Hi All,

I am about to change my existing battery to a new AGM Battery myself but before that do I need a Memory Saver kit/ cable

Or can I just disconnect my Battery without lost my car data?

Many thanks

You'll always lose things like radio presets, nav settings and probably window/sunroof stuff to if you don't have an alternative 12V supply when you disconnect the Battery.

Rather than a memory saver that can't be used for anything else, I'd go for a jump start battery pack like these here that are multi-purpose devices and can even get you or someone else out of the doo-doo in the event of a flat Battery.

Hi Herbs,

Great thanks, I presume I can just go ahead with changing the batteries? That will trigger to reset ECU and this you can reset easily?

Thanks

The engine, and hybrid transmission ECU will be re-set, and will automatically learn your driving style over the next few miles.

The windows will have to be re-set manually as will the sun roof "if fitted". The windows just need to be opened to about half way and then closed holding the switch in the closed position for about 5 seconds. That is all that there is to it.
You "may" loose any radio preset stations.

if you do use an external power supply to keep your settings

remember when you have disconnected the Battery cables

the + red cable will still be live so dont let it touch the body

of the car.

when i removed my flat Battery to charge it

i hooked up a spare Battery under the bonnet using the jump starting tab

in the fusebox, i then removed the Battery cables and placed the + red cable

into a thick glove with a cable tie around it to stop it from coming off

this made sure it couldn't come in contact with the body.

Old battery was successfully replaced.

Thank you all.

Hope you got it from Lexus, the rest are adding big margins on because it's a Lexus. Some online were charging over double the Lexus price when I got mine
