Inspecting 04 ls430

Hello everyone,

My name is David messaging from the US and wanting advice on things to check on 04 ls430 I'm hoping to purchase. Any problem areas specific to these cars I need to be aware of? I'm pretty mechanically inclined but this will be my first Lexus.  120k miles 2004 ls430.

David, hi  Welcome to the Club, an excellent choice of car

the first thing would be to make sure the radiator issues have been sorted, plenty of good advice here about it

basically, the pipework rusts through mixing water with the gearbox oil ( cooler pipes ) and zap goes your gearbox .............. usually irretrievably

if that's not yet occurred and the potential problem's been sorted, or can be right now, then there's not a lot to worry about apart from maybe the air suspension going awry at sometime

cambelt and waterpump change at @ 100k miles too, a very big job, maybe 8 hrs

but there's a good few people on here with the Ls430 that will be giving you some excellent advice
