Wow what a dumper truck

Whilst looking in Google news world I came across a Swedish build electric dumper truck based on a komatsu model. It's called the E Truck. Weighs 45 ton empty but carries 65 ton. The magic of this truck is it never needs to be charged. How? Regenerative braking. It goes downhill fully loaded and regen's more power than is needed to get back up the hill empty. Is that brilliant or what?

So, if you live on the top of lets say mount fuji and drive down every day and up again you could do thesame?

Only if you bring down 65 tons of rock, and how much fuel would you need to load it?

I suppose Dutchie that if the car had a big enough Battery and a top notch regen system and the road was always clear then I'd say yes it could be done if you lived at the top of mount fuji. But I don't think that car exists yet.

Lynton, and Lynmouth railway has been using this principle for 100 years but using water instead of rock. Whats more the water loads itself into the carriages without using any fuel.

I can just picture some bright spark in the transport ministry thinking about how to turn the M1 into a series of 300ft hills in order to reach a net zero target 🙂

There is as well brickworks in Lancashire which works in similar principle. They quarry shale and send it down using "ropeway" which works based on gravity. There is one electric motor which starts the process and then it acts just as a brake to keep the speed constant. So once it is started it uses no power and I guess could theoretically generate some power. As well it not only goes down, but as well lifts shale from quarry, key point is that as long as there is more mass on the line going down it is running by itself.

Nice one Linas for finding that video on that Most Fantastic piece of superb British engineering. I've been to see that rope way. I've known about it since I was 12 when I learnt about it in my 1st year of secondary school. 

Thats a superb optical illusion David. One of many. It takes great skill to draw something like that.
