Am I missing something? Put the a/c on today using the auto button then varying the temperature setting. I cannot see how to turn the a/c off without going into the climate control, settings, turning it off. Turning off the auto button does not do it.

Do you not have an A/C button on the climate control panel?

On my RC the Auto button simply controls the airflow and fan speed to maintain the desired cabin temperature. There is a separate button (A/C) to switch the compressor on and off.

It is also possible to change the function of the A/C button via the customisation menu, check your handbook for details

No a/c button on or off. The only way to start the a/c is put it on auto.

Never ever turned A/c off .

A gain in mpg in normal driving in D-Mode would be negligible & cabin climate less comfortable .

I'd noticed it appears that the only way to turn off the a/c is on the screen, pressing the auto button will turn it on but no button to turn it off.

I've downloaded the full user manual as the car only came with a short version. Will have a search in there to see if there is another way.

I get a dry throat from a/c if its on too long, either in the car or in work. As a result I only use it if its really hot or to demist in humid conditions.

Could it be that the Auto button works as a toggle switch?

Just been out and tried that, unfortunately doesn't switch it off.

same on my GS - there is no physical AC button, you need to go through the A/C controls on the infotainment screen to toggle it on/off.

Question: do you get a sore/dry throat in your UX, or is this something you experienced in other cars? One of the things Lexus advertised about the UX was their fancy NanoE humidifier thingy in the vents, designed to prevent this. It could be psychosomatic, but I feel like I suffer far less from the sort of things I normally suffer from in e.g. air-conditioned offices...
