Reduced reservoir fluid level maybe ……. pas fluid you can “ feel “ dripped onto the alternator too ?

If you remove the large air intake across the front you can see the pump and where the reservoir fits to the pump. You may see the leak. Better to check all areas so the under tray needs to come off and look from underneath for signs of leaking. On your car you may be able to remove the reservoir and bracket without removing the pump.

Looked longingly at it from the window at the back of the house, had to jump it to start a little while back as it hadn't moved an inch since November time and with the cold weather, think the Battery had understandably begun to hibernate for the winter. So I have decided to take the Battery out the car and bring inside to sit on trickle until it is more suitable to go for a drive 🙂

Also need to muster the courage to replace the O2 sensors and the rear fog has been playing around so need to look at that, but the cold weather has made me lazy and prefer staying in with a hot choc 😛

This weekend I removed one of the rear seats so I could get the C pillar trim out to route the cable for my rear dashcam. I could do with suggestions on what to do with surface rust inside the car. Treat it with something, or just ignore it? I have some Dinitrol left so I might spray it with that before I put the seat base back again.

Not quite sure why you wouldn’t want to do that, Jon.

Presumably you’re familiar with the use of Dinitrol and it’s the right product for treating the rust?  Do it while you have access, I would have thought.

Perhaps it might also be useful to see if you can detect how the water causing the rusting is getting there?  

Meanwhile, all the best with the dashcam  -  one of the best extras you can fit to a car, in my opinion!

There doesn't seem to be any signs of it being caused by a leak, so either it's caused by condensation at some point over the last 15 years, or someone spilled something in that seat. In the photo one of the rubber drain plugs looks really rusty, it turned out to be an old 1p. The only other debris was a rusty paperclip.

Whenever I come across any rust I wire brush the loose bits off, paint it with Kurust, and once that has gone off a quick coat of paint.
If you leave rust, it WILL spread.

I have used Bilt Hamber Deox Gel and would use it in your case. It can be a bit messy though.
This is the method I've used, it works a treat and removes the rust rather than converting it. If the panel is rusted through you will be left with holes where the rust 'was'.
Wire brush, spread on thick, cover with cling film for 24 hours, wipe off and repeat if needed, when happy thoroughly clean.
Paint/spray whatever protective coating you want, I used Bilt Hamber Electrox (high Zinc content spray), left to harden for 24 hours then painted with a top coat colour (I used Por-15)

I dug my lexus LS430 out of the snow. She is very good in snow with all season tyres and snow mode actived. Did try my mondeo out with same brand of all season tyres as LS430, scared the 💩 out of me. Got to dig LS430 out in a bit to get to work 🥶❄️🌨❄️🌨❄️🌨❄️

Cleared another 3 inchs of snow of car before going to work. Have about 7" of snow already with more to come 🥶. LS430 is a very poor snow plough 🫣 other wise very good. Torque of engine means very little throttle. Traction control with snow mode makes LS430 feel quite planted. Have tried to get wheelspin intentionally but the traction control kicks in. Went to do a doughnut in company car park for the staff and failed dismally, LS430 has been named by staff as a "beast"? Who drives a 300hp car in the snow, so far I'm the only one I've seen since snow started.

Not driving today. Got a other 3"-4" of snow on car. Also will need to dig car out and path to road. Plus we have a warning for even more snow plus blizzards today 🥶. All public transport is not running North of Inverness and police have said do not drive. Police warning for not driving in highlands is quite rare. People up here are prepared for winter and given a bit more free reign for travelling.

Got my alloys refurbished by The Wheel Specialist yesterday.  After spending hours looking at different finishes I went with the safe option and went for a high shine metallic silver (TWS sport 1).  I previously had a sliver Alfa 159 and got its wheels done in their black chrome finish but I always thought they were a bit dark for the car, so I chickened out of the bolder and/or darker options this time.

Waiting on a quote coming back to fix/respray the passenger side rear arch which has a semi-circle of rust about 2 cm in diameter and, some bubbling just above the chrome strip in the middle of the driver door. Depending on price and available funds, I may also get the rear bumper which has a few scuffs, resprayed.

What joy this car has brought in to my life!  I feel blessed to have found it. 🥰

The rust spots under the door centre trim have been quite extensively referred to in the past ……. in the earlier Ls400s and 430s …… might be worth tracking those Posts down somehow 🤔

Best wishes with it all …… acceptance of paint blemishes on older cars is sometimes the practical way forward

Ouch!  That's twice my budget. 😔  I can live with the bumper and could probably touch up the arch myself.  I'll maybe just get the door done and a machine polish...

I’ve a rust area that’s been there since I’ve had the car for 10 years…yes that long…that hasn’t grown at all. Must have been a Wednesday car…

that’s silly money…how about trying you’re own fix, giving you more time to shop around…there is a recession on and car prices are collapsing (readjusting) so prices will come down.

My problem is that I live only a few hundred meters from the beach so I'm really paranoid about rust.  I've had the car for 2 months now and I'm so loved up that I'm getting passion fuelled urges to spend money on it!  I can't imagine ever wanting to get rid of it but I know that corrosion may ultimately take that decision out of my hands long before the engine.  I had £600 left over from my insurance settlement so the plan was to spend that on trying to protect the car against the elements.

their £40 an hour rate is brilliantly small .........  my cars have always lived next the sea and I've never suffered anything like terminal corrosion or indeed anything remotely corrosive .......  and my Ls400 ( 95 ) has lasted with zero extra treatment after leaving the factory .......  and now 248k  miles fast approching 

Dont get paranoid about the " rust " that's possibly non existent
