biggish miles for sure BUT it's had a bit of a chequered MOT history:unsure:

Malc

Well it looked stunning to be honest. I was a bit shocked to find out it had so many miles on the clock. I think the owner must have put quite a bit of time and money into the car.

It really did look good, a credit to him.

I took a leisurely drive to the village garage to pay my account for doing the timing belt/water pump service.

Mike, did you pay in cash with clean notes which had been washed in a biological detergent ?   (just asking cos it crossed my mind after 30 mins hoeing ! )

Spotted a superb looking LS 400 W reg in that lovely metallic jade green (Sorry can't remember name of actual colour) passed my drive just as I was pulling out. Chased the poor guy to the golf course and had a very brief word as there was traffic coming. He said he has two! Not sure if he meant LS 400's or two Lexus cars. It looked a beauty! Mature chap with a beard!

Was it you?

No  Davey, I was in the garden hoeing, but......is he joining the Forum ?

Not quite! Admittedly that was the kind of music the previous owner removed from the CD magazine when I purchased it from him.

It's a mid '90s Jungle compilation I recorded off a housemate's LP - sounds good on the decent stereo in the LS 🙂

Junglist Massive! Boyakasha!

Have to admit that when the cassette player in my LS is running at the correct speed  it does sound extremely good.

Bought my RX 400 h carpets, an early Christmas present!

Rubber protection mats!

IMG_1613.JPG

I always preferred rubber mats and all my previous cars had these, when I bought Lexus I could not find rubber mats for GS. After 2.5 years I got used to have carpet (OEM) mats on drivers side and 3 older rubber mats I removed from Passat I had a few years back for the back and front passenger footwell. Not pretty but my easier to clean!

WHY ON EARTH ARE YOU WAITING VLAD ?

What else can I do? Call back the garage?

On Another note: yesterday I did some maintenance on front brakes, removed front wheels, washed them properly, took apart front brakes, cleaned and lubricated them.

I try to do that every 6 months or so, never had to do anything like that with any other cars, the good thing is it is easy to do!

This morning the plan is to do the rear, they are more prone to rust so defo needs to be done before winter comes.

On another note, put winter tyres on my wife's car, washed summer set tyre and they are ready for a layer of PoorBoys sealant and after that be stored for 6 months or so! 2 tyres need changing anyway (quite bold), this is the main reason I put winters on so early!

Hey John, I would if I noticed it straight away but I only so how bad job they did when I came home. When I picked the car up it was wet after being washed so I could not see how badly it was washed.

Rear brakes are done this morning, all clean and lubricated, I am glad I did it, now it should be fine until April or so.

Still waiting for a price from Lexus for front discs and pads. I don't really need it just now, my pads are not worn (I have done about 7k miles on them), rear discs though pitted and slightly rusty. Nothing I should be worried about until later next year!

Thanks Vlady. I wouldn`t like to be in their shoes tomorrow morning when you give them both barrels!

Where abouts are you in Ayrshire, as before COVID my wife and I stayed with our eldest daughter in Glasgow and did a couple of runs to Largs and to Robbie Burns`s cottage.

This is probably a Placebo effect but after doing my brakes the cars feels much smoother and qiuter during braking, even though brakes were in decent condition before I cleaned them anyway! 🙂

Didn't do anything to the car but got an email from Lexus asking me to leave a comment on Google after my last visit, I did and gave them only 3 stars but praised Service department, however, I mentioned how badly my car was washed! 10 minutes later, Jason replied to my comment offering a proper full valet, I asked Lexus to pass my details to Jason but so far heard nothing, it has been a day so far! To be honest I do not have much faith in their valet after last time, I spent days on my paint work and now not sure if I should give them a car to wash but nothing more I can ask in return I guess. Lets see if Jason will contact me.

Had a phone call yesterday from Lexus Glasgow, asking details why I think my car was badly washed?! Seriously?!

I explained it all and as per Lexus comments they offered a full valet when it suits me! Not having much faith as I mentioned above but will give it a go during cold winter months! 🙂

I asked why nobody contacted me regards my request for a brake discs&pads quote and guess what, half an hour later I received a phone call from parts department and was given a price including 10% discount, it would be about £730 for all 4 discs and 2 sets of pads! I1-off front disc cost £224!!! Not ideal but luckily I do not need these just now!

I am considering a wheel refurb to get done though. 🙂

I checked all my tyre pressures.

They all needed about 2 extra PSI.

But it felt good!

Unless I'm missing something that's extortion. LPD show £379.20 for front and rear. And I know my local Lexus dealer would match or beat that because they always do.

I think the £730 includes fitting, otherwise it is extortion

New windscreen fitted today. Genuine Lexus part

Technician, an elderly guy, been doing it for decades, did a very good job.

I'm always amazed how complicated windscreen changes have become since screens became part of the structural strength of the car. It's a long time since I used a wire coat-hanger to remove the locking band, then screen, in my Ford Escort.
