Power steering pump playing up?

My power steering pump is constantly making the noise it normally makes when in full lock. Is hard steering too. Have replaced the seal in it which stopped the leak (which was original problem or so I thought) but started the pump noise after that. Hard to explain but does anyone understand that if so what's ya thoughts? Cheers

I'm afraid that I can't answer your question but if you have to replace the pump, these people are very good to deal with and are reasonably priced. If they haven't got one on the shelf they can remanufacture your own:

Leaks and refills of the power steering oil can lead to air in the system. If you haven't already catered for this, look up burping the power steering system on net.

If the steering remains noisy and hard even after you're sure there's no air in there and fluid level is fine then the most likely scenario is that the pump is gone.
