Hi, wondering how other is300/200 gearboxes hold on hills. I have changed the oil after a couple of flushes and whilst in changes reasonably well it doesn’t hold well on hill. Inclines yes but not hills.

any advice would be appreciated

many thanks

I think that's normal for a torque converter automatic. It's a simple equation of energy, with no throttle there is a small amount of power going to the transmission and this makes the car creep forward on a flat road. On a mild incline this forward momentum can be counteracted but facing up a steep hill there just isn't enough forward torque to keep it from rolling back.

Sounds normal, like Mark says.

It's not a hill holder like a braked system as such, just a happy feature of TC gearboxes.
