Very nice Robert

Apparently it can be updated without having to go to the dealer.

You can buy the new version from here:

https://toyotamaps.online/map-updates/toyota-lexus-navigation-gen7-update

You can then put the USB stick into the slot in the car and do the update.

I haven't tried it myself but there are others on here that have and say it works well.

Congrats on your new car! it looks amazing! Glad you are very happy with it.

I am loving mine more and more and truly appreciate how special this car truly is. It is also a great feeling to know that it is quite rare on the road so you will feel even more special driving it.

1 the sat nav is the origional 2014 can they be updated by owner or is it dealer option

Your car is after the HUD update so it might have the slightly newer SatNav system that uses a microSD card for update, rather than USB. The switchover is sometime in 2014, so it's worth a check.

In your car, look at the centre console - look at the mark levinson logo below the CD slot. If the maps update through microSD then that logo is actually on a little flap that flips up to reveal the microSD slot.

Check on that and if it is microSD then I can send you a link to the correct mSD to buy (ie that worked for ours).

unfortuanatley there is no flap so it looks like the usb im sure it wont be a problem and yes it is nice to drive around knowing that there isnt too many 450s about

Beautiful car. Love that combination of black exterior and cream interior. Agree its nice knowing you are in a bit of an exclusive club!!

What warranty did you manage to get out of Lexus Sidcup???

Posted

12 month and 12 month breakdown i tried to get the 2 yr added on when he tried to sell me it but he wouldnt budge but i am satisfied at that its had a few journeys i am making sure all is well with it.

They didnt give me too much for my old one but they have it up at 10 plus but i looked after it so whoever gets it will get a good one

Same experience from me regarding the warranty.

I did end up buying an extra 2 years, but it was at full retail price since Petr said it was set and couldn't be changed (even though it is likely that it could).  In the end it didn't matter though since I always intended the get the warranty anyway.

Regarding exclusivity, in the last 6 months of owning mine I have seen 3-4 mk4 non facelift cars with only 1 GS450h!  Funnily enough, the 450h was the same colour as mine with the same wheels.  Although, believe it or not, near work there is a guy that owns a black 2017 GS450h   Since it is likely he bought it new, I am tempted to stop and thank him for buying one and giving some of us the option of an upgrade later.

Yes Shahpor I totaly agree with you I have not seen another around here thats why i like it  and  its not that they are rubbish like some of the rare cars you see Like those big Citreons And Renaults that are rare Because they were no good constantly breaking down.

My old GS450 i got the Extended warranty twice but never had to use it i shall be extending this when the complimentray runs out

I went up to North yorkshire (Skipton ) for a ride out and it run superb I did notice a bit of Tyre Roar but they are New Dunlop Maxx but i will be inflating them with Nitrogen today last one run on that and it does make them run Quieter I cant be sure but i think the old one had slightly more poke than this but not too much was still very potent when pressing pedal and the fuel economy according to the readout was 41 the other use to do about 37 so all in all very pleased i have also got the update Map data but not installed it yet so thank you all for the advice  that you gave was very much appreciated.

Oh one other thing there is a Lexus Marked Holdall in the boot with Breakdown stuff in Hi vis Jacket warning triangle Alchol Test kit First aid kit is that standard or is it a EU kit for going over to continent but it as never been used

THanks All

I too noticed some road noise when I first got mine, but I think it is probably because I wasn't used to how quiet the rest of the car is!

I don't have any breakdown stuff in mine, so it is either missing for me or a nice addition for you.

Did you get the map data from the site I mentioned?  If so, I haven't done it yet, so I am eager to hear how it goes for you.

Thanks.

Yes i have got it was slow downloading and the 64 g Memory stick as to be Formated to FAT32 that was a nightmare but i downloaded a partition Program FreeWare and that did it i shall put it in today i tried the stick in the car and it verified it so i am sure it will work

The Vendor was quite helpful I will let you know how it goes

Hi Shahpor

I loaded the update this morning it was very easy i was a bit intrepid in case it corrupted something but went on with no trouble it took 92 min i left car running on driveway but you can drive it while its updating its just the initial veryfing that you have to switch off then back on again.

I am sure the maps will be upto date £50 is better than paying lexus 200

anyway its all done

something may be obvious that as updated but cant tell yet

Hi Robert,

Thanks for letting me know.

I'm glad you have done it now because if it took 92 minutes to do mine I would have thought something was wrong long before it finished!

I think I will give it go myself soon since it does appears to be good value for money.

Thanks again.

Yes and it took a while to download the files too and you have to have a 64gb memory stick Formated to FAT32 but it was worth it

But Shahpor it was no bother putting it on, the car told you to do everything on the screen

Hope that helps and thanks for telling me about the site much appreciated

Robert

1. There is a micro sd card with the mapping on. I bought an updated card from a guy in Dublin on eBay for my IS300h. Later I fitted it in my GS300h which was a 2015 car with premium nav and ML. Did Google street view on the address which was a Russian Supermarket. Card worked perfectly and cost about £70. The same guy (sergvia) has latest card for £77 pounds.

There are cheaper ones on eBay but I know that the one he supplied was the latest version because I checked the part number he gave on Lexus website.

Easy install.

Just a update

Car is running ok but .......

I found the display takes a few seconds to come on my last one was instant

I suppose this is how they are ?

The rear bunper and the vertical  lower part of boot lid is rough to the touch as though it is contaminated with something i suspect its traffic dirt but it wont come off  with shampoo   and i found 2 or 3 chips on driver side front wing it looks like it had some waxy sruff in the chips and when i washed it it had dislodged.

I did contact Siddcup who said the paintwork was upto lexus standard when you took it and the 4 hr journey home could have chipped the paint as for the road contaminates it was a very rainy day when you took it so will just want a good clean so all in all not very pleased with that I am taking it to my local body shop for an assesment on monday.

thankfully the alloys are ok no marks

Yes, the sat nav display does take a while to get going.  Somewhat annoyingly, if you want to turn the radio on or off that takes a little time as well.

I have some marks and chips on the front of mine, so it seems that a certainly amount of 'wear and tear' to the bodywork is within specification when the dealers sell used approved cars.  How much would really depend on how bad it is.  I had some bad chips in the paint of my C pillar which Sidcup repaired for me, but they were really obviously and deep.

Good luck at the body shop.

Well took the car to a body Paint specialist in Thorne He concluded it was indeed motoway debris in fact most of it brake debris and bits of rubber  he took out a credit card and it started coming of with a few strokes said if i get a spray bottle with a bit of washing up liquid and hot water leave it for 10 mins should wipe off.

Said he didnt rate the prep  as you just bought it, the valeter if he knew his stuff should have known this and the quality control person should also have known said if worked for me he would have been sacked .

He also reccomended me to clay bar it the whole car he put a plastic bag on his hand and said even the upper body has imperfections on it so i may do that

Posted

I also could recommend clay bay. It is a lot of work but well worth it. Don't forget you also need some "lubricant" for it.

The first time it rained on my white is250 it went rusty all over. Whole car was contaminated with rail dust. Sorted with a clay bar. Sheffield car so that might have been a factor.

If you use iron x with tar remover first it will make claying easier. Do one panel at a time.

Don't cheap out on clay bar. Cheap ones are too hard.

Just a word of caution.

The paint on the 4GS isn't the toughest out there - Claying is a good thing to do, but be aware that on the GS it WILL leave marring (regardless of soft/hard, lubrication, etc - this is the nature of clay, it is an abrasive process). A couple of weeks ago I clayed our GS followed by a machine polish.

If you're not going to polish the car afterwards then I'd recommend just using Iron-X (or similar) and Tar remover (or try carpro TriX as a both-at-once product) to clear the contamination without introducing marring.

Is the iron x alright to put on the body paint i thought it was just for the alloys

or  might just get a mobile valeter to do it for me
