New low mileage Celsior on Ebay

Recommended Posts

First impressions are mixed the damage to the cill as been botched both in panel work and paint the interior is far from showroom condition and the general appearance is shoddy no service history and a kph clock ,not worth £5K and to my mind if you are in the market for a import get one that is imported direct this one is UK used.

Yep, pretty much exactly my thoughts when I spotted this on eBay last night. The interior looks higher miles than 56k, and as you say, far from showroom condition with that exterior repair.

I've only recently looked at a Japanese import - 2002 celsior with 51000. It didn't look as fresh as my 98 LS400 (and that's not saying much) and when I asked this established and expert Japanese import expert dealer when was the timing belt done he told me that the Japanese do it on mileage only, so 49000 to go (at this rate the car will be just under 40 years...) He assured me that, in all his years of dealing in these cars he had never had a problem!  Could it be just his customers did?!  Anyway I doubt I'll be looking at another Japanese import.

The timing belt thing is nonsense. Mine has done 64k but I have a Japanese sticker under the bonnet confirming it has been done at 10 years. I wouldn't hesitate buying an import again, but it won't be from the dealer you went to!  I don't suppose you care to enlighten us as to who it was, or location?

Been wondering what that plastic is behind the foot hand brake. Is it normal to keep dirt away from carpeting?

I think that's some 'gaffer' or carpet tape, so probably a tear there.

It's a plastic foot rest. It may just be a bad photo. This is mine.

It takes some pressure to break a footrest but I seem to recall a Merc I bought had a broken footrest., so maybe as you say is covering a broken footrest or the plastic is there for removing but has been left on?

It looks a nice car (the black one) and I'm almost tempted but then logic kicks in and tells me I must stay with my dimpled LS400 until D do us P.
