Hi

Many moons ago I used to own an LPG powered mk1 GS300. Although I loved it, I always regretted talking myself out of buying a fully "premium pack" spec 1990 Toyota Celsior.

Having driven an A6 C5 diseasal slug for the last couple of years, I'll soon be in the position to treat myself to an LS400 or 430. Again, depending on economics, it'll either have LPG or I may convert it myself.

I probably used to be a member as my usual username was taken but I've forgotten what email address I set it up with, and not owning a Lexus for over 10 years (despite wanting another) I've not had need to visit. I'll probably lurk and investigate the LS forums. I've already looked at the buyers guide.

Welcome aboard. Hope you get a good condition LS soon. Diesels these days are very smooth but I think petrol engines still have the edge, specially when it comes to cars getting older. Emissions control components cause more and more trouble as a diesel racks up miles and years.

Thanks for the advice Steve. Why only pre-2005 though? Not that my budget would stretch to anything newer.

Oh, and I finally worked my original password having not logged in for a few years!

@BachelorDays, my diesel A6 is 20 years old and although not too smooth was an absolute bargain. £250. The only downside was it had done 195k miles but I'm only the second owner and it has full Audi service history. It's now done 212k miles and apart from routine servicing, just needs a rear caliper replacing - I've got new discs and pads to fit as well so when I get my LS, someone will get a cheap workhorse - or my son if he learns to drive.
