Just had my 2006 RX400h serviced by Lexus, Guildford. Brilliant customer service, and surprisingly good prices!

Big point here, though... The free hybrid system check that comes with a service is now extended to include vehicles up to 15 years old.

This is better than it sounds... Not only is the check free, but any hybrid failure within the following 12 months is treated as under warranty.

This is even if you go for the cheaper "essential care" service, like I did. The downside with the essential care is that you don't get a discount with your LOC membership.

The service chap at Lexus Guildford said that 15 year update to Lexus policy came in in January... So I guess there was a formal announcement in some form

if this is true and covers all hybrid vehicle then it great news especially for the GS450h guys and I'm sure they will get a few of them in why low Battery cells

I'm not sure which vehicles are covered... I would imagine it's all Lexus hybrids, but stranger things have happened.

I'm not sure what happens if you have the check done and the hybrid system is found to be already dicky, unless the check was previously done within 12 months... Do they cover it? I don't know.

Let`s not imagine anything Dave and best we do not jump to any conclusions unless and until Lexus GB makes a formal announcement.

Just checked and on: https://www.lexus.co.uk/owners/servicing-and-maintenance/# near the bottom of the page it says under Hybrid Health Check:

Free warranty extension

With each Hybrid Health Check, you receive an extra 1 year or 10,000 mile (whichever comes sooner) hybrid Battery warranty extension, until your vehicle is fifteen years old. Terms and conditions apply.

So that would be all models, then. Well done for finding that... I did numerous searches, and kept coming back with various ages of vehicle, never the 15 years.

Quite, I "imagined" as an indication that I didn't KNOW. "Imagine" does not imply a conclusion, so I wasn't jumping to one.

It would appear so for all models - I actually have an IS 300h but saw this thread - good to know the hybrid part will be covered well into the future if I maintain Lexus servicing.

The hybrid health checks can be taken without servicing ;)

Apologies, yes the hybrid health check can of course be paid for independently, my mindset was to use Lexus servicing for the foreseeable future in which the hybrid health check is included - hadn't really considered using an independent garage yet.

so doing over 10k miles a year means you would have to accelerate the Hybrid check to always keep it under warranty ....  just to be sure

To maintain hybrid warranty for a further 12 months or 10K miles (whichever comes first) the check has to be done every 10K miles or 12 months (whichever is the sooner) - same as service intervals to maintain any warranty

Well found and thanks for letting us know Dave @Farnham Dave :w00t:

My car is over 10 years old but I reckon I might just book it in for a checkup now.

That makes sense, although I understood average mileage to be 12000pa... I might be out of date on that, but 10,000 does seem a little stingey. Still worth the extra expense after every 10000 miles IMVHO

Lexus are always 10k intervals it seems other than business use which is 12k...!

I didn't know you could get a discount on servicing with LOC membership!  How much discount does Lexus Guildford offer?

I believe it still only covers the Battery - the easy bit to get fixed by specialists. A failure of the inverter, transmission, or electric motors however will cost you four figures at a main dealer.

I go out of my way to avoid them. After they damaged my vehicle on three separate occasions and had other poor service issues I've given up on them.

Extended warranty is the only other way to cover the rest of the system but only up to 10 years or 140,000 miles whichever is sooner.

Meant to mention this 15 year thing the other day. I was going to ask if anyone else had heard of it. Like others couldn't find clarification online. All prompted because I received an email flyer from Lexus Sheffield. Mine has full Lexus history which I assume is a criteria but odd situation where it's in warranty, then out for a couple of years, then back in again.
