Rear box knocked off not able to refit ,quoted £290 for cat back system oem is that good or expensive?  just curious.

Who said it couldn't be put back?  This happened to me, I know a welder who tool a look and told me it had failed on the weld so was a simple case of reinforcing and welding again.  I'd suggest that if it's the guys offering to sell you the new cat back who told you it can't be refitted, go to a welder for a 2nd opinion, I'd be very surprised if it couldn't go back.

 

Stick a photo up of the silencer, I'll show it to my welder and tell you what he thinks.

Similar to your photo in "there goes the exhaust"  but mine has no flange at all on the back of the box,completely flat, and  mine has a large balancing weight on it as well.   the fluted part of the middle pipe is also flat and very rusted.

£290 is standard price for cat-back (that is Y pipe from resonator and 2 new silencers), not cheap nor expensive. When I lost my rear silencer I had it welded as well £60, over 4 years ago now - "not bad value for money". But if it would happen Again I would probably just do all SS, by now I have quite a few pin holes rusted... if it is pin hole outside, I am sure it is cheese inside.
