I do all my own welding,i do most things myself.

 I charged my Battery up yesterday,i came to start my car this morning and it was as flat as a witches tit.My new altinator will be hear tomorrow,would a bad altinator drain the Battery even with the car locked up for the nght.

It is possible that the Battery is also dead,so no amount of charging will bring it back to life

If thats the case I would say no,except there is something else draining the Battery,have you had any electrical work done recently?

Short answer to that is yes,

The alternator is probably shorted and that will in turn create a circuit which will drain the Battery.Take the Battery off the car and charge it up and after you have fitted the new alternator re- connect .

Anyway you should always disconnect the Battery before doing any type of electrical work on a Lexus Ls 400 mainly to protect the 32 ecu's on the car.

Lazzlo, I am newish to the LS 400, if you get yours up and running and sorted with a bit of effort it will be worth it. No finer car period. Good luck with the project.
