Hi all,

I'm not yet a Lexus owner, but hopefully that won't remain the case for long. My Saab is due to retire, and a GS450h looks like a pretty good replacement, to say the least... I'm not in any particular rush, just waiting for the right one to come along and doing a bit of research. Fairly convinced that I won't end up back in yet another BMW anyway!

Welcome to the LOC. Keep us posted re your future purchase, and yes, forget BMW, far too common!

Thanks both! I won't forget BMW entirely (well it's long enough since I drove the old one in the garage, so maybe I will!) but recent ones don't do much for me...

Welcome Jon,

Good choice :thumbs_up::smile:

What are you looking for?

Thanks. Just looking for a decent MK3 GS450h really... Preferably not a silver one (to keep the Mrs happy!). From what I've seen so far it's looking like an 07-09 with ~70-80K on the clock will be about right.

Just had a look at a 450h - not sure the price is right (yet) but overall I'm pretty sure I want one!

Good choice ziggy. I like the older models too, maybe my age but find the more modern models too minimalist inside, I like buttons everywhere lol, the gs has plenty. Hope you find a good one and prepare to travel. All decent cars I like tend to be on the other end of the country.

Found one! If all goes according to plan, I'll be collecting it on Saturday 😁

Took me a while to get round to this, didn't it.

Few things to sort out, but overall pretty pleased... it's not a high spec car by any means, but even the SE is hardly spartan. & Being newer than I expected to get brings useful things like Bluetooth/usb/aux rather than a tape player!

Hi ziggy, how much you get it for? What needs sorting?  More pics please.

was thinking of getting an older gs non hybrid but will be useful to me to see how you get on with yours. Was a little put off buying an older model hybrid, worried about buying more problems instead of just having petrol engine to look after.

as prices come down may be tempted to get a hybrid too. What made you take the leap and get the 450h?

It was cheap! Pics to follow when it's not filthy... It's had a knock on the NSF corner a few years ago which wasn't repaired all that well - I'll stick a new wing on it, probably a bumper cover too. The appeal of this one was that it's newer and lower milage than I'd otherwise budgeted for, it was cheap enough to still be quids-in once it's all sorted, and also the minor point about it still being under extended warranty, which I can extend for another 2 years...

I was never really interested in the non-hybrid GS. Would have preferred an LS to a GS430, and the 300 didn't really excite me... I was originally looking for an LS430, but my local Lexus specialist convinced me that the 450h was the way to go. Once I'd driven one, it wasn't going to go any other way!

Fingers crossed.

I felt the same when I had my CT loaner.

Tis a wierd feeling. Usually worrying with any new car that I don't 'know', but it has an extended warranty so what is there to worry about?!

The CT is too small, too slow (and not even that economical), horribly unintuitive inside (how is this progress?!) and rides like, well almost any other new car I guess. Hope they do better next time. Shame there's no new GS to tempt me with, but I guess it's not beyond the realms of posibility that I'll end up with an IS next - just not whilst I have so many massive child seats to fight with!

All sorted - no dramas.

Only advisory was on the rear brakes getting low, which was on my to-do list anyway. I must have been in a lazy mood, as I've just asked them to deal with it - most unlike me!

Hi ziggy how is your gs? Lovely car you have. Have you had a hybrid health check done? Just wondering as looking at a gs for next car but put off bit about buying a hybrid with old batteries if that makes sense. Don’t want to buy a newer car with new problems to encounter lol

Welcome Ziggy. A beautiful motor is that..........just like mine.

The Hybrid Battery can now be warranted for 15 years,so long as you have it checked annually by Lexus.

Just do not bring BMW road manners to your new world of Lexus mototing (lol)

Regards

John

Thanks! Is yours also on the 17"s? Don't see many of them... 😎

I expect I'll extend the warranty by another two years too...

I've been doing most of my driving in a Saab for the last couple of years, so I'm a reformed character, honest guv!
