Definitely not normal. It should be just perceptible, and should be returned to the dealer as presumably the car is still under guarantee.

A bit relative. If the Battery charge is getting low and you are stationary it can be a bit rough, especially if cold. It will hold the revs up a bit which makes it more noticeable but not exactly violent. 

Could you get a passenger to take a video clip of it?
