We are all being conned in the UK with insurance especially car insurance, we are supposed to have the one of the safest accident records but I bet we have one of the most expensive car insurance in the world ??........I insured my classic last year at a cost of £ 460.0, this year it increased to not much short of 500 , I shopped around and got my insurance from another company for £ 104.00 ! ! And yes it was for the same cover , how can that be fair ? They are con artist the lot of them, and don't get me started on breakdown cover .....I've had no claims with breakdowns for at least 10 years but my premium keeps going up year upon year this year my premium was quoted as £ 260. O ! That's ridiculous especially as when I went to cancel after 20 years with them they came back with a quote of £77.0 ? It is all a big con , you have really started me off now jack ! I could give loads of examples of insurance company's conning people , I know it happens the other way round but insurance company's start moaning and groaning that we are all being conned and premiums will have to go up to cover the frauds !!!! It's all a con !!!!!!

LOL, I haven't slept for about 9 months!!!! - My insurance was £340 last year for the IS250 2006 parked in a locked compound, this year they say its £1200! WTF!

I have 13 years clean DL, 12 years no claims bonus and have never ever claimed insurance and thank god not been involved in any accidents.

So why has my insurance been bumped up - Well they say its the crime rate locally (London E1W) that has had an influence! What a load of crap. I shopped around but came back to these guys COOP as they were the cheapest £1200.

What happened and any advice? I don't even mind leaving them to find something better.

Ask for quotes to include a named driver and for parking on the drive.

I can't even get a quote for my motorbike , because I live in north London ? What's that all about ?? They are bl---dy con artist , never had a claim 10 years ncb on my bike ? I thought I had beat the system by getting a classic car , yes it is cheaper car insurance but now the great uk gov is going to charge me £ 25. 00 a day to cross the north circular road so I'm going to have to move further north so I can use my car, while they build another runway at Heathrow and pollute the air in and around London with lots more airplanes, I just don't get it, thinking about it life is just one big con, but the insurance company's are the worst conmen of all .yes I am very upset !

Never use comparison sites and avoid the big names who draw you in cheap then offer new customers a better deal when you come to renew.

It's all a con and I refuse to play the game.

Some have a really good experience or maybe they just lucky.

My younger brother drives a clapped out 2 door 2006 Ford Focus, and two weeks ago whilst parked outside the hospital visiting my dad. He came back to his car to find it half-way up the footpath. Not only his car but there was three cars all damaged by someone in a lorry who failed to stop (luckily someone took details).

He phoned his insurance company Quote Me Happy (Aviva) and told them what happened. They called him back within 30 minutes and made him ONE  offer of £1700 and wrote off the car, the next day they rolled up in a new Vauxhall something until he gets his payment. Result in my opinion, but I wouldn't know as I never phoned my insurance company for anything.

Hey Allan,

Fear not the Is250 is euro 4 so you wont have to pay the charge. I checked with them and they admitted they dont have all the cars listed on their online checking tool.

Kind Regards,

This is the problem when 'champagne socialists' are empowered in our capital.

Think yourself lucky Corbyn isn't in power you'd probably be in a pony and trap..

Agreed... total scam. Regardless who is at fault everyone will end-up paying more and will get back nothing... It would literally be better to drive without insurance and just pay-up for damage. Now when insurance is mandatory we have no choice, but buy it and insurance companies can charge anything they like.

Well, hearing you guys... atleast I am not alone.

I will post the story soon. Don't want them finding my plans which you guys might help me with.

Which is why I always advocate that if the government says we have to have car insurance they should supply it as in Road Tax.

I know what you mean and agree with that.... however government and "road tax" (now vegan cyclists would disagree with you "as in UK we don't have road tax") doesn't work that well either, but that is different topic altogether.

Point being - if it is mandatory, then it should be fair and simple... no 90 question forms where depending on your hair colour you pay more or less. Simple static fee based on maybe 4-5 criteria directly linked with the car insurance category and drivers experience and it should only pay third party damage, no non-sense. If somebody wants to insure their fancy car with fully comp... then they can go and get additional insurance and it would still keep market competitive.

Now we are legally required to pay thousands with little say and even less transparency of what we are actually paying for... meanwhile large insurances pays-off billions in dividends to shareholders. Basically... cashing in on people tragedies..

Need advise:

So if  car A hits a car B where fault is of A. And A runs away.

B finds out insurance info of A. And  supplies evidence to insurance of A. And A is denying of the event.

Should B wait for the outcome or use their own insurance or keep on pressing insurance of A? Insurance of A is not taking things seriously and that is why I got mad.

I am worried about full disclose here..

Use your insurance provider. You are paying them a premium for a service, so use them. Even if you were to continue 'waiting for the outcome' your insurers will be contacted and informed at some stage anyway

A has committed an offence by not providing information to B. Police should be informed.

Agree with informing the police (although they may well not be interested)

Car B driver has no contract or business relationship with insurer of A. B should hand the whole thing over to Bs insurer. Bs insurer has a contract with B and Insurance companies have business relationships with each other.

This is business, not a personal dispute (even if B would like it to be)

None of that is any guarantee of a satisfactory outcome, but it's the only way to handle it.

IMHO

That means to loose no claims and pay excess.

Police informed. Insurance of A says they do not care about police and in their eyes no offense comitted.

jack, can B prove that an incident took place and that A did not provide B with the necessary information?

Which you should get back, once A's insurers pay up, assuming they admit full culpability. B's insurance company will be informed anyway by A's insurers .

Does B have protected NCD?

Does B have legal cover - also any witnesses or any note of any cars in the area at time of incident that you can possibly ask to see any dash cam footage. Do you have a dash cam fitted?

Agree with all above - inform the police.

You need to inform police and insurance - insurance will establish who is at fault in a round about way.

I'm struggling here slightly. Are you hoping to get this resolved without telling your Insurance company and just dealing with theirs ?

That will not happen my friend. The Insurance data base is linked and once you supply your details to their Insurance company your Insurance company will be on your back asking why you have not informed them of an accident. You will find as part of your policy that you're obliged to tell them of any accident / Incident .

As suggested tell your Insurance company before they found out and let them deal with it.

Agreed. All a bit cryptic but yes, just deal with your insurance company. That's what you pay them for.

Royo:

A denies the incident. B has 3 witnesses. One of which subimtted statement. B does not know name of the driver and paid for the service to find abour insurance.

Nemesis

No protection

Is200

Police informed and took statement

Three witness submitted their statement

Doog

Can't disclose much just now but B was verbally informed. Insurance of B said the ultimate outcome is that they will not get invloved and we need to chase up ourselves.

There is plenty more info but I cannot share it. Shared only with one member.
