I need a complete replacement exhaust system on my 2004 SC430. Lexus have quoted over 3k. I have enquired locally about stainless steel replacements and although much cheaper, these are all quoted as cat back systems and I have had no replies regarding a full system. My problem comes from the leak being at the manifold point so I need a complete replacement rather than the cat back system. Also, I want the car to be as quiet as the original exhaust but there are opinions saying this cannot be achieved with stainless steel. Any suggestions please before I go ahead with the dealer option of a normal replacement.

You say your leak is at the manifold point. Can you be more specific? A common problem with the exhaust with the 4.3 ltr engine is severe rusting of the manifold cat flange where it joins the rest of the exhaust. A good exhaust specialist can replace these at very reasonable cost if this is the problem.

Thanks John. The MOT guy who gave this as an advisory just said it was leaking at the manifold end but that the whole system was getting quite rusty and so I will try and get a more specific diagnosis.
