Any recommendations for a decent oil filter wrench that will fit the IS250?

I have both strap and chain types but I understand these are unsuitable for the filter housing?

Thanks

You're gonna need something like this and best use the 'Big Nut' on it as opposed to the 3/8 square drive hole!

Oil Filter Removal tool

You'll need one of these to remove the oil filter. Made by the likes of Sealey/ Draper etc and found on amazon and eBay.

A 600mm breaker bar may come in handy too they are often over tightened. They can be undone using the square drive port on the tool but it's better to use a socket if you have one to hand. There is a danger of splitting the square drive port with excessive force.

The sump plug washer should be a fibre type with an aluminium core.

Hi as Texas states that is the type of tool you require , one I use and can recommend is Laser 4880 64.5m/m x 14 flutes ,a good quality tool .Do NOT use any other type of wrench, chain ,stillsons etc or you will cause damage to the housing .The housing will be tight so try to get the car as high as you can to get a good purchase on the bar . This tool is available on E bay  for approx. £20

That will get it off ,it is the one I use ,hope your filter has not been tightened too much ,use the longest bar you have to remove it .do not overtighten when replacing

Also - its a good idea if you are going to be using any engine flush to make sure first that the filter cap can be released easily AND the oil drain plug can be removed easy.

Dave, I'll be using a torque wrench when replacing the housing.
