Well im back,after a break from lexus,last one a 95 mk3 ls400,prior to that gs300 and is200 sportcross.

I am very much leaning towards a series 3 RX450H which are now within my reach.mileage does not bother me,LS Had 220,000 when i sold it 3 years ago and its still being used regularlly 🙂

Only real worry is the Battery status of these hybrids ? any one had too buy new ones ? issues with the hybrid system ? any other issuies with this model ?

Had mine nearly two years now Paul.  I've just replaced the 12v battery in the boot floor.....that's it !  I'm delighted with mine and it's a keeper into my retirement.

Toyota have had so much experience with Hybrid powertrains and they are renowned for reliability.

Checking that the car has been properly serviced and has had recommended hybrid health checks makes common sense.

The big service is 60,000 miles when plugs are changed so that is worth accounting for.

I have stuck 11,00 miles onto mine since June and it runs beautifully.

The only issue is that I am waiting for Lexus to sort out my lacquer coated alloy wheels which are corroding around the wheel centre caps, so if you choose and Advance model check that.

Am I right in saying there is a lot of talk of shock absorber issues to look out for? - or is it another model?

Hi,  Did you replace the Battery yourself?   Did you go OEM or aftermarket?  Just looking for my wifes RX at the moment.

No, I used a local tyre/exhaust independent, I've been using him for 15 years !  I just dropped the RX off (it's close to work) and asked Stuart to attend to it.  He told me the replacement was slightly smaller physically but of greater capacity and comes with a three year guarantee.  £62.50+vat.....i.e. £75 all-in. 😊

Before you ask, I haven't looked at the brand of replacement Battery.  At that price and 3 year warranty it doesn't really matter.

Thanks, marginly cheaper than the extortionate £320 quoted by Lexus.

I fitted one of THESE  a couple of years ago. It's a straight swap for the original and a lot cheaper at £47. It's performed perfectly since being fitted and has a 4-year warranty just in case. 😉

A quick update. DON'T buy one of these batteries as it has just failed completely! I contacted the seller requesting replacement under the 4-year warranty and they said because it has a breather hose connected (original and essential) they wouldn't replace it. I explained that the Battery should have the breather attached and that it wouldn't affect the life of the Battery but they are adamant they won't honour the warranty. 😠

It just shows how untrustworthy and dishonest some so called specialists can be and reinforces the benefits of buying a Battery by a recognised manufacturer. I've certainly learnt a lesson.

It will be worth going back to them. Explain that under consumer laws they are liable. The owner’s name and address is on the listing. Just explain the if he chooses to not replace then Bedfordshire Trading Standards will get involved, and you will issue a summons in the small claims court.....doing so will cost him money and time so it’s cheaper for him to cough up.....

Good advice, thanks. I'll do as you suggest and report back. 😉
