HIYA , CAN ANYONE TELL ME THE PROS AND CONS OF REMOVING COMPLETLT THE DPF, ALSO THE BEST WAY TO REMOVE DPF

Posted

Firstly, it's illegal and an MoT failure.

What's the problem with the DPF?

Yep, the new MOT rules make it an instant failure.

A few years ago it was all the rage to remove the dpf. Sales of them must have rocketed lately.

Still the rage.

Companies still offer and carry out the process in pure daylight especially if they're good at welding and then removing the weld marks.

The only way is to make it illegal to carry it out.

An example of what these companies publish on their websites regarding DPF removals, putting the onus on the customer ...

IS DPF REMOVAL LEGAL?
Please note that we only offer DPF solutions for Off-Road Usage only. Although it is not illegal to remove a DPF filter form your vehicle, it is an offence under the Road vehicles (Construction and Use) Regulations (Regulation 61a(3))1 to use a vehicle which has been modified in such a way that it no longer complies with the air pollutant emissions standards it was designed to meet. Removal of a DPF will almost invariably contravene these requirements.

I understand that the new mot checks that the dpf is fitted and function. I know that many taxi drivers are going to be buying and fitting dpfs to Toyota Avensis now
