Hey everyone,

With the snow in the uk last year I somehow managed on my summer Michelin’s/bridgestones with the IS F

It wasn’t a fun experience! Well sometimes it was fun. Ha!

I need new rears, and was planning on a set of winter tyres, front and back.

Has anyone got any tried and tested suggestions, we might not get snow, but better wet performance and general low temperature performance wouldn’t hurt.

Eyeing up...

Nokian WR A4

or

Michelin Pilot Alpin PA4

good, bad, indifferent?

someone suggested Nankang SV2 winters?? Quite cheap prices compared to above two suggestions.

Any help very much appreciated.

Thanks, John.

I had the Nokians on my Clio 200, they were sooooo good,  ran good year F1's as summer tyres and on the colder months with the Nokians barely noticed a difference, in the snow however a was blown away by how much grip they have!!!

Have ran my isf for the last 2 winter days on Bridgestone blizzaks. All square set up on Corsa linea alloys

Have been great no issues last winter, and we had some proper dumps of snow.

Previously ran winter continentals on my M5, and Pirelli’s on my Merc.

To be honest all much of a muchness performance wise. All coped well with snow, which would have stopped me on the summer tyres.

I had a quick look at this the other day, and I couldn't get the standard 19s as winters with the same brand front and back. This was with black circles with whom I normally purchase all my tyres.

Was I being special?

Im also interested in getting a set this winter, cheapest premium tyre i have found is Toyo Snowprox S 954 seems to get good reviews and around £140 each.

If i wanted to get a cheap set of steel rims does anyone know where i can get this from and if i go down this route what would be the best tyre size to get?

I've just fitted Michelin Cross Climates yesterday. Have covered 100 miles this morning and they ride and grip extremely well. My tyre guy told me to wait until now as Michelin are doing an offer of a preloaded visa card refund. In my case because of my 19 inch wheels it equates to a hundred pounds.

Tyres were £700 for 4 fitted.

Be aware they are on back order but the offer runs into November.

I ran Michelin pilot alpines for several years, was very pleased with them.
