Hello to you all.....I have just gone out in my Lexus LS400 1995 and found that my front drivers side suspension spring has broken in half..No doubt ,I am advised to replace both front springs...Can anyone advise me which are the best, or worst springs, and which to avoid, and what could I expect to pay (Cost) to have them replaced ...Any help would be appreciated..... Thank you. Roy.

The cost is only free in the States, if you click on the "buy" link you can see Shipping and select UK and the price is $120.  I think import duty is about 8% on the product but may be on the whole cost?

John

Looked at a purchase from them and Import duty is the VAT rate. so not 8% but 20% No VAT additional to import VAT. One charge.

I bought am Altermator from them - cost ÂŁ156.95 UPS charges ÂŁ33.05 Import VAT and ÂŁ11.25 brokerage charges. The ÂŁ156.95 included the Shipping cost.

ÂŁ201.25 total

but the combined PAIR of springs and shocks for the front axle ( and back axle too ) combined costs seem very advantageous whatever the final delivered costs

I remember a single spring on mine just before I bought the lady in 2011 was just over ÂŁ100 to AC Lex ( prior owner )

and it seems as if simplicity of fitting exists too with the combined sets.

Seems maybe the way to go ................

I think it might be 4.5%

That's on top of the 20% VAT

And a handling charge is sometime applied too.

I usually allow for 30% on imports as a rule of thumb to price compare.

Just buy Lexus springs - someone on here recently was quoted 85+ vat each from Lexus.  Shocks appear to last longer so may not need changing.

I went aftermarket on mine as the previous owner supplied them with the car - circa £50 each and work fine.  Similar levels of comfort to standard.

Try calling Lexus Birmingham, they tend to list on eBay at discounted prices. If they happen to have some new old stock springs on the shelf you may get a good deal.
