Slight smell of mildew in the car - I remember vaguely reading somewhere that this can be caused by a leak, where should I look?

I'm not familiar with the RX-300, but I would first check the carpets in the front foot wells.

Possibly windscreen or door seals. Make  sure rubber floor plugs are ok. If you have a sun roof, check drain channels.

Hi Mark, If the smell has just started could it be linked to you're aircon? I have noticed as the weather gets cooler when I first start the car and  for a minute or so  the side windows mist up slightly and I get a 'stale' smell. It only lasts for a very short while and then clears. If this is the case it could be worth having you're system cleaned or 'bombed' I think they call it with a biocide.

I agree with Brian26. If you don't have any dampness in the car then a mouldy aircon unit would be the first port of call. There are many products available that can disinfect the Aircon and heater matrix.

Damp carpets point to an actual water leak so it's worth checking around the footwells and the boot.
