Hi all, just picked up my new is300h today from Ipswich.

Very relaxing time at the dealer and looking forward to many miles ahead - I typically do 20k p.a. so any tips for driving a hybrid would be welcomed (eg is it better to leave it in ECO rather than normal)

I actually bought the showroom car, so the car in the picture is the one I am now driving

Hi David, welcome to LOC.
Congratulations on your new Lexus. In spite of it's name the driving mode makes little or no difference to economy. Most people find using ECO mode makes the car very unresponsive.

Initialy just drive the car as you would any other, but if you wish to get the absolute best economy accelerate briskly up to speed " do not baby the car" then take your foot off the accelerator, and re apply just enough to maintain your speed. Be prepared to loose speed gradually on hills to get the maximum MPG.

However you will be amazed at the fuel figures just driving it.

John.

Happy new wheels and you I’ll love it, very quiet and refined and not too shabby in the performance department.

I find that ECO is only of any use in stop start traffic, keeping the vehicle for the most part in electric mode. Other than that I drive it in normal mode and every now and again change to Sport and using the flappy paddles, drop a gear and overtake (just for the fun of it). It’s quite brisk but for the most part unnecessary if you do some forward planning anyway when wanting to overtake.... just does it a bit quicker 😂
