Rear Disc and Brake Pad change Rx400h

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I would like to replace both the rear discs and brake pads on my RX400h.

My question is one about safety and the hybrid system.

Can I work safely on the vehicle or are there certain steps other than the obvious one (disconnect the neg on the battery) that need to be done prior to starting to work on the vehicle?

Kind regards, Chris.

I've done this job on my 400h, the only problem I came across was a seized sliding pin which needed a lot of heat to free it. Leave the caliper hydraulically connected and hang it up out of the way withe a cable tie or similar. Then remove the carrier bracket and re-grease the pins and get new rubber boots too. Before trying to remove the rotor you'll need to back off the handbrake by positioning the hole in the disc rotor at the bottom and using a flat blade screwdriver back off the adjuster. As for the hybrid system if the ignition is off the the HV Battery is disconnected from the vehicle so is not a concern.
