Rear end lower on one side

I noticed today that the rear of my 1998 ls400 is sitting about an inch lower on one side. I've inspected the springs and it's not broken as far as I can tell. Would this be a bad shock or can arms etc contribute to ride height as well ?

I had a similar issue on my GS although both my rears were lower, just one slightly more than the other.

Both my rear springs were intact and neither I nor my indi could find anything obviously worn.

So I suspect my springs are just tired and could do with replacing at some point.

I wasn't keen on replacing the springs to find no change so I added spacers to the springs which worked out cheaper too

The shocks even when worn out make no difference to ride height. Broken or sagging springs obviously can affect the ride height as can badly deteriorated rubber bushes. Member "Farqui" above has a very good post on fitting spacers on top of the spring mounts.

Ok thanks for the info guys. I know my bushes are pretty tired so maybe it's that or springs then
