You need to keep your mate onside; a 'tame' mechanic is worth their weight in gold. Buy him a pint, buy him a box of chocolates, whatever is required!

It is a ten year old car you have bought, so just be prepared for the inevitable. That said, Lexus is probably the best car you can have to run after the manufacturers warranty has run out.

Don"t worry I always look after him, to be honest, he is my best mate, as a foursome (with the wives) we have been on holiday together quite a few times, and we see each other socially, quite a bit, always handy to have around, when I have got a car issue!

Can't beat a foursome. 😉

[Disclaimer: I've never tried it and Mrs gdh300 would probably kill me if I did]

My boss had his Mercedes C Class Battery go flat yesterday.  He got a jump start and went straight to the nearest Halfords and it took the fitter an hour to change the Battery!!  He said he'd never seen a car where it was so complicated to change the battery 🤣

Apparently loads of stuff had to be removed just to get at it.  Talk about designing a car to make the dealers money!

Sounds about right, I did look at Mercedes, BMW and Audi, before going for the Lexus, you get a lot more for your money, and not as common as the german makes 😀 I am really pleased with my purchase.

I was sat in my NX listening to the radio when I lost all power. Couldn’t start the car and couldn’t open the doors. Good job one of my windows was open. AA came out very quickly. Battery completely flat. What I would have done if I didn’t have my phone with me I don’t know. Apparently if you pull the door opener twice instead of pushing it the door will open. Can’t find that info in the manual .

Always leave the car in the Ready state when sitting listening to radio/music.! Not doing so will deplete the 12v Battery very quickly.

From CUFC Blue, Thanks Peter but there is one problem as my manual has only 300 pages. That is the way to open the door. The AA man didn't know how I would have got out u til the power was restored. The garage tell me that the batteries are quite small and it doesn't take long for them to drain. Lesson learnt and a football match missed.
