Got in the car today after a heavy shower to find the drivers A pillar was wet through. Is it possible for water to come through the seal with the windscreen, or has anyone had this happen to them? I couldn’t find any obvious point of entry, but if it is coming  there, does this mean the windscreen would have to come out and be resealed?

It does indeed look like rainwater coming in but before you get too downhearted, have you used the screen washers lately? I know that the water pipe from the washer bottle to the rear screen goes up that pillar and I think there may be a joint there as well. Worth a look to see if it's come loose maybe?

windscreen seals can be fitted incorrectly - when was the windscreen last replaced?

Washer tubes to rear washer can split / become disconnected.

Sunroof drains can become blocked.

There are reports of welds and seals failing but this is more common at the rear.

Thanks, I think it is the original screen. TBH wouldn’t mind replacing it as it has a few scratches. I’ll get the trim off when it stops raining and check the joints. That sounds quite possible as it would account for the drips on the dash too.

Look at sunroof and roof bars.  Water tends to leak at these two areas first.

thanks for the advice. I don’t have  a sunroof or roof bars fitted, something I’m on the lookout for actually. But I will have a look at the trim panel once it stops raining.

Good Morning Tim,

I appreciate you posted this years ago, but did you ever find the cause of this problem? - I have just experienced exactly the same with my 2009 RX450h, in exactly the same location, after similar overnight heavy rain - photos are virtually identical to yours.

Kind Regards

I have been having similar, fixed it by buying some captain tolleys creeping crack cure, and using it down the windscreen. (I don't want to buy a new screen), this worked for me
