Hi all, I have a 2004 RX 300, After the vehicle is sat for a few hours the N/S/R air suspension drops down slightly (30mm) and can here the pump running every time the engine is started for around 20 seconds and then the vehicle is level.

i cant find a leak .

Leaks are VERY difficult to locate.

Happened to me - ended up replacing the air strut.

Yes, as Piers says, it's very difficult to locate a leak, but if it's going down then a new strut is probably your only option.

To locate an air leak put some Fairy Liquid (other washing up liquids are available) in a jam jar of water so that you've got a soapy solution. Take a paint brush and brush the soap solution on any pipes, joints, bags or anything else that carries the air - when you get bubbles appearing you've found your leak.

Worth a try... though how you FIX a leak, and whether you would want to?

The metal parts of the shocks also holds the air and they rust. So it's not necessarily the rubber bag that fails, it could be a rust hole anywhere leaking air. Fixing is very difficult due to the design of the shock. It's not like you can just replace the airbag like you can on some systems. The bag and pressurised chamber are integral to the shock.

Having seen the most recent one to come off mine - it was in a BAD state.

'Mending' it was not an option. Not even sure I'd trust a reclaimed part.
