235/50/18 or 235/55/18 ? Would 55 work?

Recommended Posts

The former is stock I assume because that is what is on my car. The roads here are very bad the former owner had a friend (who works at a ST) which is basically a garage/shop) with him during the 2 days we were processing the sale (yes... don't ask lol) anyways he suggested going 55 to compensate for the crappy roads... I do have better tires options if I go with 55, what are your thoughts on this.. Is there going to be rubbing or any issues?

So what is the final word on it, will 55 fit? I need to decided today any help would be appreciated.

I had 235/50/18 on my old Ls430 with out any problems.  I tried 55 on the back, they rubbed with a load on some corners.  Tyre fitter said 55 would not fit on the front.

These are my options, bear in mind I am driving day to day on 100% cobble stone and occasionally I drive on paved highways. I've had 2 ppl say the 55's will not fit and no one that says it will fit because they have tried it.235/55 R18 KUMHO ROAD VENTURE APT

going from 50 to 55 is going to make no noticeable difference.

Ive recently changed wheels on my sons Golf. Went from 195/65r15 to 205/55r16 with no change in ride quality.
