I've just ordered some new tyres to be fitted on Friday and there are two versions with very slight differences and I wondered if anyone had compared them before?

Michelin Latitude Sport 3 V (99) versus Michelin Latitude Sport 3 XL V (104) Ref: https://www.michelin.co.uk/tyres/michelin-latitude-sport-3

The XL has a 104 load rating compared to 99 for the 'plain' one and also has a better economy rating but is listed as a special v*lv* fitment. The Michelin site above, rather helpfully, doesn't show any information about it's various 'specifications'.

I've gone for the XL as every little bit of economy helps but thought I'd better double check with the gurus here to see if there's any potential problem?

Thoughts?

XL basically means stiffer sidewall so you might notice the car crashes over bumps and ridges a bit more

Would personally have gone for Michelin Primacy 3 if economy was your primary concern

Interestingly when I look it up the Primacy 3 is only rated C for economy, the Primacy 4 on the other hand comes out at A but with less wet grip and noise.

Might change my order - there's simply too much choice!

Yep I meant the 4's not 3's.

Either way, when it says it improves economy, I doubt you would notice a huge difference. Maybe 1-2 mpg more. I would ditch the XL though, its not needed.

May be worth giving the Goodyear Vector 4Seasons Gen 2 a look. Amazing tyres.

Have you looked at the Michelin Cross Climate? It's very good indeed.
