I happily pay full MOT price, my indy mechanic takes it to the MOT tester and is there on-the-spot to fix tiny things ( say headlamp adjustment etc ) and to understand more fully if there's any impending issues for the next year ( and sees what the guy is talking about too ) .  such as the other rear UCA will need changing for the next MOT ... the previous year the other side just failed, sadly it wasn't showing any wear the prior MOT year ! ............. and non-MOT failing rust on earlier cars ............  good to know the extent of potential Advisories emerging....  worth to me the extra £20 in paying the full MOT price

Totally agree, full price MOT while using a good indy is the way to do it.
