Have I damaged the alloys?

A brief moment not concentrating and I have hit a curb at 30mph.  Feel completely stupid.  Anyway - two tyres instantly flat... - luckily I was close to home, so managed to get back.

 

Do you think that I have damaged the alloys, or is this superficial damage repairable?

I would say both wheels are repairable, but what the pictures cannot show is if the wheels are buckled. There are specialist wheel repairers that can tackle such damage.

I hope everything else is okay... wheel bearings... brakes...   okay, the tracking is probably out...

Definitely get the suspension geometry checked. Possible thrust arm bent, track rod bent.

Hopefully the rear suspension arms are ok

or if the axle has been weakened in any way, the tear on that tyre tends to indicate the tyre(s) absorbed quite a bit, but it needs checking in all relevant parts, I hope your lucky & no harm done.

Seems I was lucky.  One alloy has a small dent, the other a slightly larger dent.  No suspension damage or anthing, - they redid the tracking also but it was only slightly out, - so a lesson learned there I think.

However, because of the damage to the front wheel, they've fitted my spare (as it's never been used), however, it's a slightly different colour.. it's like a smoked alloy colour to my other, refurbished alloys, which are your typical light silver colour.

So I have a decision, whether to repaint the spare the same colour as the others (and possibly have the one damaged one re-done), - or, to have the three refurbished ones refurbished in the same colour as the original...

There's not a MASSIVE difference, but I notice it...

Kinda good news then, 1 step forward and 1 step backwards by the sound of it tho.

Tough call as repairing the damaged wheel may result in it being a slightly different colour to the others, depending on how well they can match to the repair.

I can see comparing side by side will highlight any differences but how about when fitted to each corner?

I definitely notice it in the flesh... actually I dont think this photo shows up the difference too well... you'll probably all think i'm being too picky... - believe me - there's definitely a difference 😄

Go to an alloy wheel refurbishers. You would be amazed how they can repair wheels. Was in a tyre shop the other day. Guy had hit a pothole and thought the wheel was scrap. No no, said the shop. We can fix that. Specialist have wheel rolling machines that force a buckled wheel back into true. They could refurb it the same colour as the rest, or have all 4 done for say £60-70 each. They fit new valves and balance them, as part of the deal/price.
