Hi guys, so I upgraded my Lexus last week...found one I couldn't refuse, a 2009 IS220d with only 55,000 miles on it and it was relatively cheap as well.  Just a couple of days after I got it, I had it parked far away from any other car in the local Tesco car park and I come out....according to witnesses, some idiot was trying to park next to me and somehow clipped the passenger side of my car while doing so...he panicked and drove off.  Now I got some good quality scratch remover and went to town and it did wonders, makes it so it is not all that bad but there is some paint scraped off at the very bottom of the rear passenger side fender.

The damage is not really bad enough to warrant going to a body shop and spending large amounts of money.  It is more annoying than anything since I just bought the car.  Anyway so I am looking online for touchup paint and evidently, my paint job is a three stage paint job and some people have had trouble matching it.  My Colour code is 3R1 which is Matador Red Mica.  Has anybody had any luck matching this with any touchup paint?  I actually live in Ireland so any brand I could order online that you would recommend would be a great help.

Whilst I can’t help with colour I got a small pot of matched colour for mine off eBay came in what can only be described as nail polish tub and brush but wasn’t expensive and with a bit of trial and error with other brushes I did okay in some of the chips and scratches on mine. I was dubious at first as it wasn’t expensive but colour was spot on

Sorry to hear this.

We had this on our 3 month old Toyota corolla when we lived in France. Damage amounted to 320 euros. Scuffed offside rear bumper plastic and body higher up and slight body dent. Apart from driving off and leaving no details it's the extra hassle. In our case a 60km round trip to the dealer x2. We had to pay 200 euro excess. Thankfully had protected no claims, so not affected.

I have a 2006 IS 220d with 175,000 miles on the clock. My car is a more burgundy red. But on log book states red. It has a gold looking flake in the paint and I would imagine hard to match.  Where is the colour code? When I bought the car the offside bumper was scraped. Would be nice to sand smooth and repaint.

Also need the 2 drivers foot well carpet clips.

Hope you get it sorted to your satisfaction and cheaply.

James:thumbsup:

Where is the colour code?

If it's in the same place on the IS as the GS there is a sticker at the base of the near side door pillar headed 'Toyota Motor Europe'. On the far right written at a right angle (on my GS anyway) is written 'C / TR   8T9 / LA13'. 8T9 is the paint / colour code. Sorry I haven't posted a picture but I haven't got the ability to do that at the moment.

Thank guys, I found a company called "Color N Drive" that did a very good job of matching my color...you wouldn't notice unless someone showed you where it was applied.  But I am sad to say that last month, a young boy on a bicycle lost control and crashed into the side of my car.  The parents refused to pay and even though I saw the boy do it, he denied it and so I could not take them to court according to the police.  Then the very next week, somebody reversed into my car with a trailer hitch which put a round dent into my bumper...so I am probably just going to have to take it to a body shop now.

Must be a Friday the thirteenth car, no wonder it’s low mileage.....no one dare drive it without consequences either that or it’s been magnetised attracting anything metallic towards it.
