My local mech can't get the discs off the rear on my RX400h 2005/6

Any clues? The car has done 151000 miles , Lexus serviced but this RX is going and it has decided it wants to stay on!!

Disc comes half off then sticks

CORRECT  The RHS disc had the inner shoe stuck/welded to the disc itself.   Seems as though for many years only the left rear inner shoes were holding when the parking brake was applied.  Rarely used as I put the gears in Park.  Ho Hum

Has your mechanic backed the adjuster off? There should be a rubber bung on the hub facing part of the disc, removing this will allow access to the shoe adjusting mechanism which is located at the 6 o’clock position behind the drum. It is a cog wheel which once located can be flicked around to back off the shoes with a screwdriver through the hole where the bung was.

In other words turn the drum until the bung is at the six o’clock position, remove the bung, shine a torch through the whole to locate the cog and flick the adjuster cog to loosen off the shoes from the drum, if the drum tightens up flick the adjuster the other way.

I never use hand/park brake I'm trying to be proficient at leaving the car as it comes to rest on park like the y used to in seventies films he he

Pad/shoe can't be stuck to the disc/hub, otherwise the wheel wouldn't turn.

Back off the adjuster / give it a few whacks with the hammer / use bolts on the holes on the disc front to force the disc off.

If your replacing the discs give them a good ********* clout.
