Hi all, I'm a member of the is250 forum and am currently toying with the idea of downsizing to an SC430. I have to sell the idea to management so what are the top 5 reasons I should give her apart from the car being a thing of refinement and beauty?

Regards to all

Downsizing? lol OK.

I find inventing irritating but vague faults with an existing car works well. Oddly, appealing to SWMBO's financial side seems to go a long way when wanting a change. Makes no sense (existing car will cost X to get right so we should spend Y on something else) but there you go.

All this is assuming that she actually listens to me. I have a feeling that as long as I'm not bankrupting us then she just goes along with it. Keeps me out of trouble etc

Hi Mike ,have you considered the IS 250 convertible ?  A couple of years ago I looked long and hard at the SC ,I was impressed but ended up with a 250 convertible , It does not have the V8 but has a little more space for occasional use in the rear. I am pleased with the car ,it is a great cruiser and we have enjoyed 2 Continental touring holidays in the last 2 years .You also know your way around the IS250 and I think running costs may be a bit less

Hi Mike

Downsizing to a V8 with 279/282 bhp, and lots of torque, I think I see how you're playing it

Top 5...that's a really good question and the answers might depend on which model you go for. It may also depend on whether or not management will drive it and whether they are inclined to 'get there quickly' or not. So trying to avoid the technical stuff.

1 The most reliable V8 cabriolet money can buy.

2 Roof on or off, fun to drive, it makes you smile every time.

3 Very smooth, quiet, comfortable and well appointed, it is quicker than it looks. (delete any elements that may be counter-productive to the case)

4 No room in the back for passengers so plenty of rear seat space for luggage and shopping.

5 With the top down on a warm sunny day, almost universal appeal to all management.

It just makes you want to go out and drive it all again.

Thanks guys. I'm still considering the is convertible but the interior of the 450SC with that wood and white leather is pure automotive porn! My is250 is a great car and the change is not imminent but keeping my options open. So impressed with the Lexus quality and service that I won't be looking in any other direction. I miss a V8, the last one I had was in my Triumph Stag, the opposite end of the reliability scale!

Triumph Stag, that takes me back. I was tempted to play a sound clip of the exhaust but the mods may take it down as being too racy for Easter Sunday.

The cabin certainly is a nice place to be. With the sat nav and head unit covers closed, it looks very traditional.WP_20170617_015s.jpg.6fdfe75b8039ce3d44870dee5ddb4484.jpg

How cool does that look? Have to agree with Bob, blue and cream is the best combination. Looks even more traditional with the correct steering wheel but I'm not going back.
