I find the road surface to be the largest contributor to noise.  On my commute home I go from a concrete road to a tarmac road and the difference in noise level is huge.

Totally agree. The new "quiet" tarmac roads are almost silent. I have the Is200t which is just as quiet as the electric SUVs . Lexus loaned me FOC some of them when the car was serviced. If anything the better aerodynamics of the IS makes it quieter. There is no engine or exhaust noise once warmed up. It's all down to tyre noise.  ( Michelin Pilot sports ).

BTW you appreciate the more generous heater of the ICE cars in winter.

I must have gone deaf because I don’t think our NX450 is noisy at all 🤔🤔

When the engine first fires up particularly in cold weather)I do find my 450 noisy but it becomes much quieter as it warms up

According to a USA youtuber he gets a measured 68/69 dB at highway speeds ( 65 - 70 mph ) in an NX450. The article below relates that to a washing machine. Funny how a lot of new cars and motorbikes sound like washing or sewing machines. In fact some cars are just as boring as a washing machines - NOT saying which ones!!!🤔🙉

70 dB is in the middle of this decibel range. It is equivalent to the sound level of a regular washing machine. It is also equivalent to the noise level in an office environment or inside a car driving at 60 mph.

I am getting fed up with the cabin noise on my NX300H which I purchased new in July 2021. Its now so noisy once you get to 40 mph and above that you can't hold a conversation properly. The noise I get sounds exactly like a rear window is slightly open. I have checked everywhere and even done paper slip tests on all the door seals and whilst a couple weren't grabbing the paper slip tightly they all seemed to have the seals in contact.

The tyres are Yokahama Blue Earth 225 x 60 R18 and the noise is related to tyres as on the odd occasion I get to a perfectly smooth road surface, the noise level improves quite a bit. The NX has only done 17,000 miles so the tyres are only half worn. Its never been a quiet car even when new but the problem has escalated in the last 12 months or so.

Anyone have any ideas of what the swooshing noise might be?

Road surfaces make a massive difference. Whatever happened to those "quiet surfaces" that seemed to be all the rage a few years ago, brought in to make things better for local residents originally?

My 2018 NX was not as quiet as my IS on motorways. When I bought my NX it came with Bridgestones (the same as my NX). After around 2 and a bit years of driving, I decided to swap all 4 over to Michelin Cross Climates and there was a difference in noise, with the car being quieter.

Yes I remember them but have been totally forgotten by the highways Shysters.

South part of the M25 is still as was built in concrete surface & no matter what you drive over it it screams tyre noise all these years later (luckily I live nowhere near this ******* now)

Cannot believe that the vast housing that has been built nearby over the last  (?) decades has not forced the shysters to to replace this outrage with the tarmac that covers most of French motorways (yes i know that France rigged the EU to suit them)
