My radio/cd player/cassette player have not worked for probably 2 years. I guess I put it down to the troublesome m/l system and just gave up on it in the end which meant I get some LONG quiet journey's .

I was sitting in the car waiting for my wife and had the ignition switch in the acc position when all of a sudden the radio came on. When my wife got in the car I started the engine and it went off again.

I guess that's that for the next 2 years!

Hi Mark
Have you had it looked at?
Have you tried a replacement unit?
Hi, yes I've had the unit out, tried it with a replacement unit which came up with the same cd error. Radio and tape player stopped working later. Started to think it might be the amp although the sat navigation works. Not had anyone look at it as it seems that not many repairers are prepared to tackle this unit.

Have you tried this - it tells you if the amp is working or not?
Also have you checked the fuse for the amp in the drivers side footwell board?

Thanks for the reply. The youtube video may be a later car. Mine doesn't follow the sequence in the video and I can't do the tapping of the screen on the left hand side. I haven't looked for the amp fuse but the fact that it came on after all that time must mean the fuse is ok mustn't it?

The procedure is correct for a 2000 LS430. It was the same for my old 2000 GS430 too. You need the 'display' option to appear and then press top left/bottom left as shown in the video repeated three times.

From this screen, press the top left of the map (just under the word display) and then press bottom left of the map (just about the - contrast button) - repeat three times.

Well I never, a radio that needs a handbrake to work, what will Lexus think of next.

Also I like the idea of using the word 'toutch' in the manual, sounds like someone someone practicing the art of ecky thump

Ok so now I have the check screens up and maybe the codes make some some sort of sense? It would seem that DSP AMP NCON means the amp is not connected??

First screen tells you to check the audio unit - I think your audio unit is faulty which is why the amp appears as "NCON" i.e  a signal is not being sent to it.

I done one earlier when my amp fuse was blown - you can check the thread here which also has a pic of my screen.

Thanks again for the help. Perhaps I'll look at the 30 amp fuse next.
