The first of any series will always and can only ever be the first. However unlike say a golf mk1 is IS was a new challenger and not a game changer.

I think the rcfs bold design could swing it to top or bottom of the tree depending which way people view it.

Isf is the first as said

Gs is an odd one. Probably the best dynamically but styling wise not so clean as isf and not as sleek as rc.

All have a great engine though.

Forget carbons as they will have all deteriorated into a pile of fibres and cracked resin by 2020 ;)

To be a classic I think there has to be a story behind them. LFA has a story. Rcf and gsf certainly don't - I think just the fact they are reliable V8s might be the only thing as they are legislated away.

Could depend if the GS F and RC F are the last NA V8s before Lexus are forced to use Turbos.

Very good point, but that is already not the case - LC-500.  But then, that's not an F................Who knows!!

Classic in the eyes of the masses, none. Classics in the eyes of the Lexus enthusiast, they are all worthy....

It’s got to be the Mesa Red IS-F 😉......like my old MK1 1300E in purple.....god I wish I still had that 🙄......I had a “samakand” coloured fiesta ghia X in 97 from new, least popular colour, infact a disconnected colour BUT got £500 more for it when PX due to a demand for the colour 😳......therefore there’s only one colour 😂🤣😂

I'm slightly biased but genuinely think if any do, it will be the ISF.  It may not of been a game changer for the industry but certainly was for Lexus.  Previous to the ISF there was nothing. Could the RCF and GSF ever have existed without the ISF that went first?? I bought a fresh import R32 GTR 3yrs ago for £10k, had it a year and sold it.  Due to the American import market, try getting one for £10k now!!

It's all a big if however.  I still worry about the F brand.  Lexus just don't push it like they could.  There's still a real chance Lexus might one day kill the brand.

As we live in a consumer society, classics only become classics because there is a genuine appreciation for that particular car and a want to purchase it

Look at it this way, in my eyes a classic is a car that you look at and think "I wish I had one of those" or "I wish I never sold that".  I have never heard of a story of someone that has bought an ISF and not fallen in love with it.  Even to you guys that have moved away from the ISF to a GSF/RCF, I bet the ISF will always be special to you and have that little something you can't replace!!

I regularly think about my 1st, problem is I married her!!!

Hopefully an Ultrasonic blue ISF with black leather.

Not sure though, when i owned my TT 6 sp supra it was just a quick old JDM import at the time that stood out like a sore thumb. Now everyone knows the tuning potential a lot of the manual box models were exported out the uk. Look at the price of some of the non turbo models, 12k for a 5sp NA is bonkers as they couldn't give them away 10 years ago.

I think the ISF is a slow burner and given time when nobody can buy a V8 in the uk anymore they will start increasing in price.

I'm also keeping an eye on Monaro prices as i think they have already bottomed out with the CV8's fetching decent money.

I've searched high and low for my crystal ball mainly .low because high things are a bit of an issue............

Anyway my isF had her 2years almost to the day part exed her a fortnight ago for exactly what I paid........

Must be an element there of prices firming and a little recognition of them me thinks 🤔

@Big Rat Not many car owners can say that mate that's for sure.

I think mine has dropped a few grand in two years going with prices on auto trader but tbh i've never tried getting any prices for it.

@mike m Mike ultimately it's all about the price to change when you go to the dealers, selling privately is another matter.

I tend to say IS-F, but actually voted RC-F. The reason is that I believe IS-F is very important car for Lexus, because it is start of "fun" cars for the Brand. I guess 3rd most important car after LS400 and LF-A, what is more - it is pivotal moment in changing Lexus brand. However, there are few issues with it becoming appreciating classic - 4 door saloons will always and forever command smaller premium then coupes. Yes they are more practical, but for somebody looking for classic car practicality is one of last consideration. So all in all, IS-F is historically important car and older, so will become "classic" sooner, but I believe that is say 50 years time RC-F will appreciate much more than IS-F (just my opinion). Additionally, RC-F is rarer - not only in UK, but even worldwide... rarer usually means - more expensive.

So in conclusion, both RC-F and IS-F will become classics at some point, just RC-F is going to be rarer and more expensive.

Not for long is my bet. Unless they continue the model with a different engine ala M cars.

The ONLY reason ANY coupe is more inclined to be a “classic” in mainly due to the fact that they’re mainly owned by “OLD” people that need more access room for getting in and out,......you only need to look at those that are making the change to the RCF,......obviously only my opinion 😉......😂🤣😂🤣

Fair play 👍......word of advice, make sure the gearbox oil on that auto transit is changed regularly, I know a couple that have failed.....it’s NOT cheap. My 17 plate Transit is in under warranty already 😔
