my front brake pads need replacing and i was thinking of getting new discs as well.

how easy will it be for me to replace both? or shall i get them fitted and how much is that likely to cost?

how about the rears, are they just as easy - cos they are drum in disc type!

This is a job i am slowly bringing myself round to doing, ( just waiting for the weather to get a little better and to get hold of the parts)

Yeah but i thought the disc might of been a giveaway, plus i dont know of any h/brakes that go to the front wheels, standard stuff really :winky:

eh?? I am talking about the rears. As Mat said, the rears are discs but with a drum handbrake operation. Therefore, to change the discs on the rear, is it the same as front, or is the drum associated with the disc and therefore a little more involved?!

When changing the rear drum brakes, release h/brake remove calliper/disc,change drum brakes......adjust everything up, fe-fit.

The original post(by Wosket) was:....changing FRONT discs and pads, thats why i said the rears are not drum(sidetracked a bit).

yep, i guess i'd better order some, might go for black diamond discs and pads, what do you think?

yeah fair enough, was just throwing another question in. As now, if he changes the fronts to say DBA's or black diamonds then chances are he will do the rears too! Hence the question will come up at some point!!

To really nit pick, the rears are drums, but only the handbrake part of it. Foot brake part is as we know, disc.

I like the look etc of the black diamond, would be interested to see what you thought of them if you went that route. Also, if you change to aftermarket (performance) brake discs, should you have to tell the old insurance co?
