I have to say having a sunroof is great as it lets in more light making the car much nice to drive during the day.

Agreed, if the interior is black but the cream interior doesn’t need more light.

Interestingly I parked next to an XF once that was a similar colour to my 450h. I returned at the same time as the Jag owner only to see him go to the drivers door of my car. We did have a laugh and a short discussion about the similarity of the two.

A friend who specialises in Jaguars constantly complains about their unreliability, especially the XF.

Well done on your purchase Phil. If I'd known about it before you I'd have bought it myself! Mine is dark blue with the cream interior and I don't have any problem keeping it almost like new inside as, in the main, it's just me and my wife in the car. However, I'd love one in the silver with cream leather, it's a brilliant combination IMHO. Yours is a particularly good buy, as you pointed out, because of the registration date only requiring £305 p.a. tax, whereas mine is 2007 and costs £520 p.a., must be something to do with emission rules changing on a certain date. I think the price you paid is well worth it if the car is really as good as it looks in the photos. Do you have any history on previous expenditure apart from servicing costs? Mine has now done 65K miles and I've had new tyres, Battery, brake shoes, rear callipers and about to have new brake discs, other than that, just the normal servicing once a year (as far as I can recall off the cuff). I agree about the looks/shape of the GS, very streamlined and still looking very good and modern. Re Jags, I wouldn't touch a Jag or VAG or BMW/Merc for that matter.

As it happens I think dark blue and cream is possibly the best combo!  I don't have any info regarding work done. The car does speak for itself though seen in the way its been looked after.  I searched all over it to find a blemish to negotiate a price but found nothing! It's also just me and my wife so hopefully keeping it clean inside shouldn't be too bad, after all, the previous owner seemed to manage.  The dealer I got it through get their Lexus cars from the main dealers, maybe Lexus Leicester will give me some info?

Yes dark blue/cream is a very good combo when paintwork is clean and shiny, but silver appear to hide the dirt for longer. Also silver hides marks and scratches which are a a pain on dark colours.

In real terms its £5 extra a week

I think the screen is meant to be higher rez from 2007 I looked at a few older models on Autotrader like this LE on the (top picture) vs mine (bottom picture).

My Volvo is silver, doesn't get washed that often but always looks fairly clean

Changed 24/03/2006. Prior to this the VED was broken down into bands A to K. K was the top band and was for cars with a CO2 emission (g/km) of 201 and above. Then, on said date, bands L and M were added. Band K changed to CO2 of 201-225 g/km, band L is for CO2 of 226-255 g/km and M is for CO2 over 255 g/km. Both L and M bands more than £200.00 p.a more than the band K charge. As the GS 300's emission rating is 232 g/km it was placed into band L and that is why the earlier models are cheaper to tax.

Another one for dark blue and cream but biased as that’s what mine is[emoji3] I find it really easy to keep the interior clean. I keep some leather seat cloths in the glove box and quick wipe down once a week keeps them spotless.

I think that's the solution, keep on top of it which is so much easier than attacking it once a year.  The interior is so nice I can't imagine letting even the smallest mark stay for long. Just started booking accommodation for our drive to Austria in the Spring, I'm looking forward to that!

My 56 plate GS450h had the higher res screen, possibly because all the hybrid info needed the high res screen!!!

Here's another question for you.  Mine is an SE, so what's the difference between that and an SE-L?  And is it right that the non hybrid don't have CVT?

Think it’s 18” wheels, cooled seats and sunroof. Non hybrid have a normal 6 speed auto, and a very good one it is too.
