Yes, I know, if I search I'll find something on this topic somewhere, however no-one seems to be able to make up their mind on the best to buy

I want to get a brighter bulb for the headlights - are Philips Blue Vision the ones to buy, at their cheap cost. Don't want to spend too much, being a Scotsman after all....

Further to that, I notice the IS300 has yellow tinted lenses/bulbs on the front foglights - aside from buying whole new units from Lexus, has anyone done a modification on the bulbs themselves to give 'the look'?

Look forward to replies

the yellow bit on the fogs is a coloured projector lens, the 2003 is200 in europe have the yellow fogs

Blue vision give out less light cos of the tint!! (simple explaination, but there was an indepth report on a link on one of the older posts!)

I went for the Philips Premiums, and they are brighter. Takes a bit to notice it at first. Put my free blue vision sides on and they look much whiter, but don't think they throw out as much light!!

I didn't think the PIA xtremes were road legal??

Hi,

I've got the Philips Blue Vision bulbs, and though they give a nice white light, it does seem they give a bit less visibility than the stock ones.

I researched it quite a bit, and came across this link which kind of resembles my experience, albeit with the PIAA Extreme White, which are even more expensive, and still have lower performance than the stock ones as well.

So if you ask me, the only money well spent are the HID retrofits, especially the (cheaper!) 4100-5000K ones. They give about 3.5 times the light compared to stock at only 35 Watt. The 6000K ones are "only" 1.5 times stock. You'll be looking at about GBP 300 then... :o

And they are not legal in most of Europe, although I can get away with it in Holland as the law here only seems to require the auto-levelling and washers on new cars.

It was in this thread before on LOC, and here you can find some of the suppliers:

HID Online (Philips D2 bulbs, LVQ212 ballasts)

Brightstar 35W HID 12/24V Conversion

http://www.importhookup.com/store/catalog/...?products_id=29 $440,00

Hanabi HID Kit 9006 6000K

http://www.racerwheel.com/rt000838.html?AI...123&PID=1213317 $439.00

McCullough H.I.D Conversion Kit 9006

I'm tempted to try them, but the price is still holding me back...

Cheers,

Ok, I have just looked at the PowerBulbs site and I think I'll buy them. But it says I need the 9005's or the 9006's - eh?

Help - what do I buy 9005 or 9006 ?

I'm no good at this modification game........

I got mine from the supplier in GOLD, gives discount and got free side light bulbs too!!

I only went for the main beams, as thats what I use most. Hardly ever have the full beam on so no point wasting money on them too. Smae for the fogs.

Worth it thoug for the £20-£30 quid I think they were, can't remember now. Anyway, the PIAAs are £60+ so not worth it in my opinion.

Right, ok

So I need to order the 9006?

Anyone?

Whoever thought headlight bulbs could be so exciting.......

Zee,

You may rest easy my man, cause I have just sussed out what you mean - I need the 9006 for the DIP beam and to hang with the FULL beam - after all who ever uses that?

Thanks to all who explained.....

Next modification - full engine conversion!! Zoiks !!
