Rear heat shield

Hi All,

 

i couid hear metal rattle around the exhaust area so I took the Lexus to my local garage. Straight away they could See it was the heat Shield and they pulled it off as it was resting on the exhaust box causing the rattle. I'm struggling to find where to buy a new one. Does anybody know or have any links? Also is it safe to drive around without one?

The heat shield seems to be a weak point as there was reports of it rusting through in another thread here. 

A dealer can source one but it won’t be cheap. You might be able to get a salvage part but that would have to be off a fairly new car to be worth it otherwise it will probably have already started to go. 

Its probably not a vital part but I would feel comfortable having a hot exhaust below the fuel tank with no shielding on my own car...

Inexpensive fix if worried and a proper part is a lot of money.

How much are they roughly? I can't seem to

find one anywhere! I was hoping they were cheap as there's nothing to it. Weighs very little!!
