Rc-f vs e92 m3

I am seriously considering an e92 m3 coupe with competition pack having decided the c63 is too heavy, gear box gets a lot of bad press for being slow and unpredictable and the rear tyres are too narrow to lay down the torque. 

The 2013 model year seems to be a great car. I was wondering if anyone had driven one and compare it the rcf? Main attraction of the BMW for me is it's B road and track potential. Also the dct box seemed good.

@Stuno1 I had a e92 M3 albeit an earlier one than you are considering and it was a manual, with hindsight I should have bought the DCT, nothing wrong with the manual but as the car really lacks torque and must be revved which is no hardship with the noise it makes and a nice high redline.

If track work is for you then I'm not sure the standard brakes are up to it they certainly were not on mine, but the year/ model you are considering is improved I guess, still quite a heavy car not much less than an is-F despite all the press talk over the years.

Still a good looking car IMO with lots of parts to uprate if that's your bag, they are thirsty even when driven sedately and there are some reliability issues throttle actuators and so on, personally I wouldn't want out of the AUC and I found BMW dealers hit and miss, mine went in for a warranty claim matter and when it was road tested the tech got caught doing 124 mph in a 30 limit didn't divulge and I got the NIP initially !

I think they are a good car that can get under your skin mainly because of the engine after it's a normally aspirated V8 !

Now I could be wrong  but I seem to remember BMW sent 20-25 White M3 Comps through the dealer network that had been used as track day cars for quite sometime may be worth checking in case my greying memory is playing up, loads of info and help on m3cutters site, good luck if you decide to pull the trigger.

Have you tried  a RCF?  I'm in a similar situation in terms of moving from a ISF...

@Bluethunder Sean driven RCF's a number of times on extended tests I like them personally I rely on my own requirements and experience when it comes to car buying and would seriously consider one if the GSF didn't exist, I don't put much stock in motor journalism.

Great post chap. The throttle actuators are an early model issue but the brakes may still not be ideal. Alternative discs and pads may surfice but I have heard they are not great in stock form. 

I am after cars with 30k ish or less but will definitely check history now as white is the colour I am after. 

Seen all the comments about torque but I don't mind and actually enjoy doing it. It's the joy of the engine. 

Bluethhunder - not driven one and to be honest I am not sure I will. I am not sold on the looks and think re-sale will be a ball ache either selling privately taking ages or taking a massive hit on trade in. I think the m3 e92 coupe with competition pack will hold its value really well and is always in demand. Also, the e92 can be mapped to get an extra 20hp, sharper throttle and de limit it. You can also upgrade the box to the latest version making it shift more quickly. Both will only cost 1k.

@Stuno1 Stuart you are right the later cars certainly are a better product, I've found the article on the 24 white cars I mentioned they were 2011 cars, lots of info online about them, in any event you are looking at a much later car.

There is a specialist dealer up the road from me which seems to have loads of quality recent stuff on line if you didn't want the auc route but still wanted a dealer blanket  here's the link Stuart if it helps.

When you are looking at cars around the 35K ball park, the choice is is mind-boggling... I'm struggling to decide. Stoke Lexus(closest dealer with RCF) has 3 for sale so i guess I need to go down for a test drive..

I do this the other way round. I pump 35k into autotrader and see what I'd swap for. Not found anything yet.

Pretty much what I did. Filter price, driven wheels, performance etc and see what pops up
