Well, in case anyone is interested in an update, I picked up my car today from the dealer after I got both mirrors replaced using my extended warranty.

They told me the official cause was 'lazy motors'.

The added bonus is that the replacement comes as a unit including the colour coded housing, so considering mine were stone chipped to hell, it was rather a nice surprise.

Was this the same dealer that originally told you that it was normal for them not to dip together or as much as each other?

Yep.

Since I had taken apart and greased the OS mirror, it was now tilting all the way, so I was able to show them that they were wrong.

What's funny is that, even though it was now tilting all the way, they replaced it without me even asking them too.

I am guessing that, because I didn't tell them I had taken it apart, they figured the issue was intermittent and would have stopped working properly soon, so best to get it replaced now.
