So its been a while and a few things have happened in that time but I've been so busy with work and the car I pretty much forgot to update this.

The car has finally been on the dyno but not without issues, mostly heat related but I've finally sorted it all out.

It did pretty well on the hub dyno and made 530whp at just 19psi which is just above wastegate base pressure. The fuel and ignition tables are done but the boost controller and 2step have not yet been setup.

Ive switched the oil feed line back to a -4AN on the instruction of the tuner as I had dropped this to a -3AN, ive also removed the 90 degree silicone hose on the turbo compressor housing and replaced it with a cast alloy elbow and had it welded on....

OLD

NEW

You can see how close that 1st branch is to the elbow so with the cast 90 degree now it's shifted that silicone expander quite far away from the heat.

Also had an issue with the turbo oil return line, this had a DEI fire sleeve on it as it was very close to the exhaust manifold but the tape supplied to hold it in place turns out doesnt like heat either, it came loose and ended up melting and in the process melted the firesleeve and the nylon braid on the line.

20210616_220014.thumb.jpg.344bbb482c084b5943f06a92e08edfc3.jpg

The PTFE lining inside actually was untouched but I wasn't going to take any chances and made a new line.... this time without the nylon overlay.

20210616_220058.thumb.jpg.ff021a784205097363d8ab60c026b8ea.jpg

This has also has a fresh fire sleeve fitted but this time secured from the bottom to hold it up in place.

Other issue I had was a coolant line from the back of the water pump housing to a matrix pipe, I had a silicone hose running under the exhaust manifold with DEI gold tape wrap on it. When it was 1st assembled it had plenty of distance to the manifold but after heat cycles and pressure in the system it was almost touching!

This is how it was on assembly...

20180326_160438.thumb.jpg.5191747db9258a0fad9fe4f868342ed6.jpg

I removed the fitting to the water pump and cut it to change the angle then had it welded. Also fitted a fire sleeve to this too just incase.

You can see the difference in the routing now and a nice big gap visible from the top.

So with all the niggles sorted I can actually drive the car and enjoy it some before it goes back to have the boost cranked right up, 2 step dialled in and the boost controller setup.

1st drive I took it steady and progressively built up confidence of giving it the beans..... my god its absolutely insane! Goes like a stabbed rat! The damn noise is like nothing I've been in before, everything happens so quick I don't know weather to look at the speedo, rev counter, AFR gauge..... if this is what 530whp feel like then I cant imagine another 100 or so more at the wheels on top of it. Videos incoming soon.

Yes I imagine them massive lumps would need that just to get them rolling 🤣

It's honestly rediculous, it's pretty violent but even like that it still puts all that power down in 3rd.... maybe a different story with a bit more HP.

So ive finally had the wheel alignment done and alot of it was way out, the car drives a million times better now!  I went to A -line in Dudley, they have always done a good job on my cars, they also see a huge variety of cars there too from your average cars to classics to full blown race cars.

When I got back I gave it a much needed clean inside and out then tucked it up for the night.

Managed a nice spirited drive out the next day to Much Wenlock, car was faultless. Got a few pictures whilst out, also cant believe how much better it drives now......

Not alot happening with the build other than putting miles on it. Done almost 700 miles since the end of June and chunk of that was a B Road blast to Snowdonia.

20210818_143110.thumb.jpg.cebd49d531d460fcdb6ad9b133cbacd7.jpg20210818_143403.thumb.jpg.bafdec0d4212b1f79f77c0015d35900b.jpg20210818_151627.thumb.jpg.05b93b3f7346c66d699232bda0f3bfe3.jpg20210818_152519.thumb.jpg.8100bcabffa1cbd7be1848dfcf344b29.jpg20210818_153117.thumb.jpg.b997e902f66b1b0fd6ccf677034de488.jpg

Car was great, had the exhaust bottom out a few times when pressing on with these kind of roads but other than that and tinnitus when I got home it was great!

Just love how nasty this thing sounds on idle, even more nasty on boost!

Also got its first show coming up next week with the Max Power Reunion show, now I know its not to everyone's taste as the car scene is just like fashion, we all look back and think what the hell but its still a big part of the past when it comes to the modifying car scene. It should be a good mix of how the car scene was compared to how it is now. So with that coming up I gave the old girl a good scrub to get all the dead Welsh flies off it!

That will be it then, next thing it will be off to get the boost turned up!

Is your fifth photo at names.siesta.redeeming ? Last time I was there in June, they were filming an edition of 'The Motorcycle Show', so had to park at the lay-by a bit further up the road!

Fair to say, I think I would I would give all life savings to buy this off you... Sadly, I think my calculation falls short:

1.0 x £ My Savings = 0.25 x £ L666 GAN

Jeez, when is your UK tour kicking off? At least let me see it!

Thanks matey 😂, that 5 picture was on a small car park Snowdon view point on the A498 just past the turning for Pen-y-Pass.

should get to 2 or 3 shows this year then hopefully next year will be at a fair few. Still no sign of a re arranged Lexus meet.

What size wheels are you running?

Tires are 225/40/18 F and 255/35/18 R from what I can see from the pictures..

Also, amazing build. I would have my IS exactly like this car. Everything is wonderfully done.

Thanks man, the wheels are... fronts 18 x 8.5j +40 and the rears are 18 x 9.5j +45.

Will eventually switch to a 265 on the rear tyres.

So ive finally got this thing back on the hub dyno to have the boost turned up, boost controller, and 2step launch control setup.

This visit was straight forward no issues to report, it made 633 at the hubs and 510flbs at 30psi. Turbo at this point was pretty much at its limit, so the boost was pegged back to 27psi just so the turbo was sitting at a happy, comfortable place.

Final figure was 601 at the hubs and 483flbs. Im over the moon with it. I've only tried high boost once and it is absolutely insane! Scary quick!

IMG-20211022-WA0002.thumb.jpg.8f754fd795b6b99122e78152c39b8b50.jpg

Also had to test out the 2step/rolling anti lag of course 🤣.

So after 4yrs and 3months of graft blood sweat and tears I've finally got the point I dreamt of. We all know these projects are never finished so there will always be little things to do but for now I'm just going to drive and enjoy the damn thing.
