Gearstick wuestion

My gear stick leans over to the right a bit, almost like it's in gear but not. All gears I can get and it feels ok, just looks odd. Is that normal?

I think most gear sticks are sprung to one side. The old gear stick in a Mk2 Cortina, was not sprung I believe.
