However, you may even find that I end up buying a Dacia! (It WILL be secondhand!)

Dacia have come a long way. I was working in Romania in the mid 90's and they were dreadful cars, not so any more. And I have the same problem as you transporting our greyhound. I would love to take the LS when we have one of our regular trips to Cornwall, but my estate car is the only sensible option, although our dog is always more relaxed on the back seat of the Lexus for some reason.

handing the keys to lexus is causing me all sorts of impending issues. 

When you test drive, they walk you round their car and you agree condition. Do they do this with your car on service day? Before they take key and accept responsibility?

do they take the wheels off for service? Are they stored on floor or on proper holder if so? Also they havent been off in a year so does the technician remove bolts carefully? I.e. Not ram the gun onto the bolt chipping the paint. 

Do they use magnetic wing covers? These are known to scratch with mechanics leaning over them.

apparently these the recommended oil and an accepted cheaper oil that loses you mpg. How can i make sure i get the first approved choice? Short of buying it outside the service and supplying in car. This kinda defeats the point of paying already

after the service they complimentary wash/valet the car. Theres no way i want this. I have no idea what they use and being a dealer if somethings dropped on the floor theyd just pick it up and carry on using it. Once dropped it can pick up grit damaging paint. I will be saying no wash and leave notes on dash but have no confidence they wont do it anyway. Also have no way of knowing what products they use. All mine are ph neutral and theirs could strip my protection off.

after the service the lot at my dealer is a mare. The mechanics going to dump it in the first free space. Could be dented by anyone. While the keys are not in my possesion i cant control this.

anyone else have issues like me, or am i over thinking it. Its been on my mind since about 3months in of ownership months before its due lol

I understand your concern as I share the same ones! However, with Lexus you can generally be sure that your car will be looked after. 

I've been in the workshop and have seen my car being worked on (and others inside the workshop at the time). I've tried to answer your questions as best as possible below.

Lexus will take the key from you and it all works on trust. I've never had a Lexus service manager give me a courtesy car and check the condition of it before exchanging keys. However, the service tech will do a quick damage assessment to cover major damage and you'll get this on the visual inspection sheet. If there is damage to a car after service, they usually won't try to deny it as long as you don't drive the car away so check thoroughly when collecting after service.

I don't think they remove wheels for a service - however, they tighten the nuts using a torque wrench and remove them with pneumatic air gun. If they do need to remove wheels, they're placed on a holder. 

Im not aware of them using magnetic wing covers. They cover the wings with a cloth but its certainly not magnetic. 

I very much doubt they'd use a cheaper oil than recommended. It will be or should be Genuine Toyota oil 0W20. 

I've never had an issue with them washing the car - my dealers have always done a good job and have specialist valeters working on all cars rather than backstreet wash boys. I've never been disappointed.

Additionally, just because a product is PH neutral, doesn't mean it wont strip your protection off. However, they do use TFR so that will remove any protection on the car, or atleast degrade it.

The mechanics will park the car in the car park - if you look carefully, you'll see that these spaces are genuinely massive (american size!) so no issues with people damaging your car - They usually park all the cars to be collected next to each other anyway

They won't wash your car if you ask them. Lexus Stockport have it on my file never to wash my cars. Not that I don't trust them to do a good job but I don't want my expensive wax taking off and I never like to use a jet wash.

Well im glad im not the only one, maybe my doubts are from a previous bad experience with vw where the serviced was not done as per vw uk specifications ,i queried it... they lied i queried it it again and was given diffrent information. My first service with lexus so im hoping as said  everything is of a higher standard. 

Reference checking the car over i only have my initial test drive to go on where they checked their car before i took it out and as the excess was £1000 i was carfeful to say the least. So i just think it should go both ways, but we'll see on service day. I'll make the service person aware of the condition and my concerns over the wheels/oil etc. id just rather be over careful first than complain after. Im hoping i can wait while the service is being done as it will just be easier . 1st service cant be big. 

Magnetic wings covers thinking about it is probably out of date now lol.

Just booked my wife's IS300H for service on 30th August. Long list of things to do for Lexus Bradford:

- Full Service,  MOT, courtesy car, full valet, Recall work and Driver door light which doesn't have a cable after they repaired it.

Well, got a service reminder txt in the week so went in to frighten the service manager today. Cars booked in 22nd sept first car of the day. Service manager very good at dealing with concerns and also confirmed 0/20w oil will be used not 5/30 so thats perfect. Not so worried now its booked.

Just had first service at Lexus Edinburgh,30000 miles.No problems they used 0 20 oil as specified.

Car valeted and they left a bottle of Lexus water in the cup holder,it tasted so much better than normal water. :driving:

Quite a handy size. I leave a bottle of it in the arm rest storage bin and a chocolate bar over winter in case I get stuck somewhere.

Ive also just gone through all my papers for the IS and the one paper for the RX. All are 0W20 oil used. 

The IS has been on Castrol whereas the RX was on Mobil. Not too fussed as long as its 0W20

Right, so the huge list I had for Lexus Bradford for the IS300h has been done (almost)

1) service and mot done. Alignment was out so that was done for £65

2) Recall for rear arches done

3) driver side door light done

4) full valet done - was a **** job. I didn't see it there but in my garage with the lights on, the car is completely covered in wax residue. In other words, it's not been wiped at all

I haven't spoken to them but im taking car back tomorrow and getting the centre manager out to see if that's the standard he expects.

Good to see most of it done to satisfaction, be interesting to see their thoughts on the valet. I imagine it will be apology and done correctly as you enjoy a coffee :yes:. Post up their reply......

im definatley skipping the valet and will be reiterated again on service day.

Well yes, Im going to see the manager with the car still covered in wax. Im not after much but I want it washed again for a start - the wax will still be on the car so doesn't need reapplying which is good otherwise it'd take ages.

Its not been wiped at all so I presume they must have forgotten. The interior is absolutely immaculate though and they've done a great job there so I wonder if they did just forget as I haven't had this problem before.

I paid nearly £500 according to the service plan for the 40k service - I wouldn't want a car back with wax residue on even after a £40 valet

Well I CBA going today so I rung them. They'll give the car a wash and remove the marks from the car on Wednesday

My white IS250 (no longer owned) was given to me with paint full of rail dust. Took me 4 hours to get it all out.

Serviced my baby on Friday 1st of September at Lexus Edgware road (London). Everything was perfect apart of bill lol, but since I bought the car I set in stone in my mind that I won`t let to touch this expensive (bottom of range, but for me it`s still expensive) toy nobody apart of authorised dealership garages. Yes I could save few quid here and there if I would do it in different places, but decided to build FULL  (and I mean the FULL) service history has to be from Lexus, even if I need to change simple things like vipers it will be done in Lexus and I will have record that even small things been done only at Lexus. Car washed, hovered and given back to me in brilliant state - no complains! 

When I bought the car (and still until now), I`m very worried when leaving it in narrow (packed) parking spaces, I still get worried if catching pot holes, I still get worried when my missus is scratching wheels against the kerbs and I have to swallow it, but guys bear in your mind we are getting back from Lexus cars generally that what we are expecting to receive for all our worries. 

 

This could be a bit silly, but I always paying more extra attention as Lexus owner to other Lexus cars on the road and you know what - 90% they are bloody smiling when driving their cars, so am I... Correct one bloke before mentioned that everything is about respect, other things can just happen, let`s try to draw a line where we need to worry and where we are getting a bit paranoid and that`s it...

Well the ct had its first service just now. I apparently had nothing to worry about. The service went smooth on time and completed with no issues. Had a look round the showroom and enjoyed the coffee. :yes:.

I still think its appropriate to mention what you expect when you hand the key over wether its a 20k car or 100k rather than have a problem later.

certainly wont be worried over next years visit, very happy with lexus plymouth today :cool:
