In my Prius this has happened on many occasions causing the engine to speed up when braking and slowing down when acceleration is applied even though it is not actually running "being driven by MG1 (motor generator 1)" to burn off or dump power from the battery.

I have just finished & refitted  an HV Battery pack which also refuses to drop out of the green & spends noticeably more time in electric only yippee must redo my own sometime when its quiet. Your exhaust is just great John - that blooming Y piece is a regular thing I see blowing on otherwise perfect cars. Superb work John
